She pulled down the hood from her cloak and Frank could see more crusted blood throughout her hair. He saw what looked like an animal bite near her right collarbone, but her cloak was covering half of it, even if it was shredded in some places.

Right now, I have a job to keep. I pushed the heavy covers off my body and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. The second my feet hit the cold floorboards, a sharp ache flared up in my cheek. I walked over to the small mirror hanging on our wardrobe and looked at myself. The left side of my face was noticeably swollen, the skin a dark, angry shade of purple-red where Damon’s hand had connected with my jaw. There was a tiny, dried crack of blood at the corner of my lower lip. I looked like a mess, but my eyes were clear.

Her face looked like it had gone through a ridiculous restructuring. Despite visiting the hospital yesterday to have the face checked, it didn't stop the swollen sight and blue marks on it. Slamming her palm angrily on the dresser she screamed in agony. There is no way she would be able to attend classes with a face like that, biting hard on her lower lip she felt a sharp pain in her teeth. Opening it widely, she felt her front teeth shake, almost like it couldn't hold up much in the gum. She would have to get the teeth checked.

There was a bump the size of a golf ball in the middle of my forehead. “I managed to stop the bleeding,” said Claire, “but my healing still isn’t that great. I couldn’t do anything about the swelling. Or the bruising. Or that weird jelly stuff.” She pulled a face that suggested what she was looking at wasn’t very pleasant. I sat up, groaned, placed both hands over my face and healed myself. The pain dissipated and the swelling went down. Hopefully, it also took care of the ‘jelly stuff’, whatever that was.

Cold enough to make her instinctively pull her hand away. “What is…” A thin line of blood appeared beneath one nostril. At first, it looked insignificant, no more than a trickle. Then another stream emerged from his other nostril. Someone in the crowd pointed. “He’s bleeding.” The blood continued to flow, creeping over his lips before dripping onto the concrete. It wasn’t the bright crimson red she expected. It was darker. So dark that it looked almost black against the pale gray pavement. A woman covered her mouth. Another stepped backward, clutching her purse to her chest.

* Knock * I knocked on his room's door and after a couple of minutes, it was answered. My mouth touched the ground in shock. Surprise masked his poorly bruised face. His left eye has that round blue bruised which is looking pretty painful because the swelling has closed his eye small. Also, the side of the lip is swelling along with a few cuts there. His jaw looked swollen possibly due to some heavy punches. Looking at his body posture I can clearly see that he is broken from the inside out with injuries.
