So, I gathered my courage and approached Ralph, taking a seat next to him on the steps.
“Hey,” I said softly, trying to gauge his mood. “Are you okay?”
He looked up at me, his eyes filled with sadness. “I’m fine,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m just having a rough day.”
“I’m sorry,” I said, feeling a pang of guilt in my chest. “I’m sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have hit you.”
He shook his head. “No, it’s my fault,” he said. “I shouldn’t have let my feelings get in the way once again. I’m sorry.”
