Xavier stood beside her, his flashlight pointed down at Rinaldi's clue, as if reading it again would reveal some new bit of information. "It has to be here," he said, mostly to himself. She agreed. But what if it wasn't? Where did they go from here? That was the real question. Where did she and Xavier go from here? What did - "Shit," Xavier said. She glanced over at him. "Hm?" "Shit. I think we read this wrong. Look." He shoved Rinaldi's poem into her hand and shone the flashlight down on it. "Look at the line about the tree."

Xavier finally turned his gaze to me, his eyes curious yet guarded, focused on the book I held tightly in my hand. "I went to the library to find something to read, and I stumbled upon this book," I explained, holding up the weathered tome. "It's a story I've never heard before, and it sparked my curiosity." "They were pushed out of the system by the other leaders, so they're not part of other packs," Xavier observed, connecting the dots between the ancient history and our present-day societal structure. “Just answer the question. Is she his fated mate or did he take her as a chosen one?” “Fated not that I see why it’s relevant.” The tone of his voice told me just how disinterested he was. The only things that ever caught my son’s attention were women, alcohol and fast cars. “And you’re sure” Xander nodded growing frustrated. “Then we have found our wolf. I found this book in amongst Ravens things when I returned. She had bookmarked this particular page.” I threw the book towards Xander who opened it to the marked page and began to read aloud.

My eyes move around based on instinct and as if fate is trying to test me, I see the dragon rider book lying on the floor, along with other books that have fallen with his bookshelf. My body tightens. It’s a pretty black colored large book with gold fonts. I had looked for it the other day but Xaden had come in before I could find it. I promised Liam to steal this for him and in return— he would protect my lie. But funny enough, I don’t have a single urge to reach for the book. My attention returns to Xaden limp body. I lower my upper body to his, placing my ear in front of his heart. I can’t hear a single breath. His chest is not moving.

She did not want to exaggerate, but it felt as if the sex took them seven steps back from the place where they used to be. Xavier didn’t come downstairs for breakfast. First, he disappeared from her chambers without words and then he chose to decline breakfast. Something the Xavier she’d known would never do. She pulled out a book with the title ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ and she guided her legs over to her seat. She sat and flipped the book open to the first page to read through. Not long after she started reading, the door flew open and Xavier stepped into the study.

“What the bloody hell is that?” I moved away from Ryker, my eyes were solely fixated on the book. Wiping away the shattered glasses, I did not care if it would hurt me. Once it was clean, I read the book to Ryker. “It is the Book of The Damned.” All I wanted was to get a hold of that book and satisfy my curiosity but when I did, I could feel the power surging from the book, my hands were painfully attached to it. Then the book opened, forcing my palm to hold it up the pages started to flip rapidly. So many images flashed through my mind but none of which I recalled. The book slammed shut and I blinked. I turned to Ryker and swallowed before finding my voice to speak, “Did you see that?”

She said. "mmmm... Can I see the book? I mean if you want." The prince wanted to see the book. But Chenyin was scared to hand it over. "I promised to master that I- - -" "I won't open it. I will just want to touch it." He said. Chenyin gave the book to the Prince. The book was brown. It had a beautiful design on it. And it has also a lock on it. "Hey it has a lock on it. Did you notice?" He asked.

I burst into a fit of coughs as the smell of dust and old leather infiltrates my senses. Ivy follows closely behind as I examine the rows and rows of books, “you can come here anytime.” “Really?” I giggle excitedly. “Of course, you can.” She says with a warm smile. We continue deeper into the library. I stopped when a framed painting— hung between two shelves, caught my eye. It showed several wolves standing before the mountains. At their center was a young boy— who couldn’t have been more than seventeen, that I recognized as Xavier. There was a woman standing beside him with the same dark hair but eyes as bright as Ivy's. Probably their mother.
