“You’re behaving like frightened children. Demons! Really? Are we back in the dark ages?” “Of course, we’re frightened!” called out the same female voice without a face. “We’ve lived a peaceful and happy life. Now, these demons show up and people are dying, being kidnapped, being eaten. Now, the village is surrounded by zombies! Of course we’re frightened.” Kendra stepped up next to Arthur. “These horrible things that you are complaining about happened to us, not you. If we were demons, why would that be? Maybe it isn’t us. Maybe it’s you who bring the bad luck to newcomers!”

- Alice shouted cheerfully, apparently wanting to improve the atmosphere a bit, which had become a bit sad because of Meredith's story, which in turn was completely out of place for a birthday party. Selene blew out the candles and sliced the cake. After everyone had eaten, she took care of the gifts. Aunt Meredith gave her the Book of Spells that Selene's mother used, she got a protective amulet from Elisabeth, a deck of tarot cards from Rita and Eleazar, Isabelle and Johnathan gave her runes, Alice, Tess and Teresa such small things as a cauldron, potions bottles, magic candles, incense, magic powders, etc. Maria and Deborah gave her a crystal ball. Selene thanked each one of them, and she

After two days of high temperatures and intense boredom, he remembered the three books. Sam pulled out the one with the Mummy on the cover, because it looked the most innocuous. It was entitled the Ninth Pan Book of Horror Stories. He wasn’t the least bit prepared for what he found inside. The first three stories involved emasculation, murder and burning at the stake. In his fevered state Sam felt he was not only watching the characters’ suffering, he was experiencing it along with them. He flung the book at the wall and then hid it again, wishing he could burn it like Jinnot, the young girl in the third story who was burned alive.

“Well, at least tell me if I have one part right.” “You have always been so stubborn,” Raquel smirks. Putting his pointer finger into the air, he offers me hope. “Fine. I will give you only one fact.” “Yay!” I clap eagerly. Raquel covers his mouth. Almost as if he is attempting to hide a smile. “I said one, Katrina. Now, go on before I change my mind.” My mind filled with unique books I read, remembering that I read about different creatures from vampires to werewolves and demons to Fae. Then one, in particular, hits me. I can see it as clear as day.

But all went down when she heard Lizzy's soft voice brush her ears as she said, " But Ann, it's halloween and you said you've never experienced halloween before nor do you know what it's all about. Remember the other day when you were so excited looking at people's scary costumes and you were so curious to know about it so we thought we'll surprise you. Show you what it really is instead of telling you about it. Then maybe this way you'll never forget it since it's your first halloween and we just wanted to make it special. You know we were preparing for this night from a long, rehearsing and going through every scare. We only meant to scare you but in a good way." Her voice was filled with

She was still flipping through the new books she had acquired when she was slightly surprised to hear the soft but sure voices of people filtering into her ears from below her window. It was nighttime, and it was obviously her quarters, somewhere only a small number of people were allowed to roam. Even her knights and maids, weren’t allowed to make such a ruckus at that time of the night. Still, Hurai ignored it. She pulled out a book from the shelf, one that she felt was adequate before dropping it into the chair on her nightstand to go through it. The noise was soft and quiet at first but as seconds turned to minutes, she slowly discovered that it seemed that even more people had joined.

I knock on the damn thing and there's a hollow sound coming from inside. "How the fuck does he open this thing?" I touch every part of the wall until I feel something out of the ordinary. I push it and hold my breath. Please let it open. The almost realistic wooden magazine moves to the right, then I see a drawer inside. I press the small button next to it and the drawer moves to the left. Holy fuck. I chuckle. Haiden freaking Blackwood. A genius cunning wolf in the flesh. Two Frost-moon pack werewolf books are placed inside. What surprises me though, is the small book placed between them. I immediately notice it's yellow cover, something closer to gold. It must have been gold but worn out

Then I was gone. By the time the council convened again, the tension in the city had thickened. Rumors of wolves in the east, of rogue magic flaring at the borders, of a bloodline pact broken — or worse, forged in secret. I didn’t attend. I stood at the threshold of the ruins once more, where stone met sky, waiting for the next move. He wasn’t afraid of the hunt. He was born for it.

I have no idea. The books were old, some pages are rotten and smell like mushrooms in a wet forest. I smiled when I realized that these books were precious. And they were all about my kind, the Helsings. For hours, all I did was read and get drowned in these pile of books. I have never been flooded with knowledge unlike before. The more I got absorbed into the pages, the more this hatred towards the corrupted vampires grew. It was eye-opening. Written on the page was,
