He exhaled and released his eyes, blinked until his vision was clear. He saw something yellow, no golden and bright! He blinked again, trying to know what he saw, so he began walking towards the golden light. He could see that the light was on the snow covered ground. It wasn't still, the light always moved, it danced in a rhythmic motion, sometimes, the light was a little taller and other times it went a little low. And each time it danced, there was a spark— a burst of golden dots!

Unlike any other human gaze I had encountered, hers shimmered with an otherworldly radiance, reminiscent of stars sparkling upon a midnight canvas. Her natural eye color transcended the conventional hazel shade, revealing occasional flickers that had caught my attention on multiple occasions. Initially, I hadn't paid it much heed, dismissing it as a trivial peculiarity. However, now, as her eyes shimmered once more, I couldn't ignore it. Vampires' eye pupil tends to flicker to red when they are hungry for blood, agitated, desirous, or experiencing other intense sensations that could trigger a transformation. The crimson flicker of a vampire's pupils held a profound meaning.

“Instead, ask yourself just how far you’re willing to go.” Lyda closed her eyes again as the anxious rush returned to sweep beneath her flesh. All second thoughts of doubt and notions of vice were emptying from her very spirit. It felt good, everything she was doing. Everything she was about to do. As she opened her eyes, she spread a mischievous grin across her face and, unbeknownst to her, her right eye began to glisten a faint hue of yellow.

Fear was absent from her gaze, instead, her pupils had inexplicably changed from a dark brown to a muddy yellow. The world before her eyes instantly transformed, and everyone seemed to be cloaked in varying shades of yellow. For instance, a child on the fifth-floor viewing platform was a pale yellow, with only his heart area being the same color. Next to the child, a man dressed in a black suit had a heart, arms, and legs all colored yellow.

I have yet to lay eyes upon anyone else but her and the purple flashes of light. " Sarah, what do you mean disappear like the others?" urgency laced in my voice. I couldn't lose her now after all this time. " The purple light will take us soon just like it did the others," she spoke so quietly I barely heard the words leave her lips. " Do you know what the purple flashes of light are?" I asked softly. " Unimaginable Pain," she tells me with a tone so sharp, my body felt like she had stabbed me. After she spoke those words the darkness seemed to grow darker consuming us to near blindness, the deafening ring of silence embedding deeper into my eardrums as it waved on.

It's Eliza's corpse. Everything around me goes black, a suffocating darkness that obscures even the lifeless body I'm holding. The darkness is soon pierced by flashes of white, only to fade back to black almost immediately. The cycle repeats—flashing again three seconds later, then again. I spot someone in the distance. With every flash, the figure grows closer.

Not the marble floors of the Hale estate, but the sticky floors and the smell of old hot dogs. I was determined to buy something to commemorate my shitty-but-not-as-shitty-as-I-thought-it-would-be day. I wanted the sugar and the caffeine and the feeling of being a normal girl with five dollars in her pocket. As I reached for the freezer case, a series of bright, aggressive white flashes erupted from the sidewalk outside, reflecting off the glass doors. Pop-pop-pop. I flinched violently, the sudden strobe light effect making my vision swim. My heart, which had just started to steady, kicked into a frantic gallop. I wasn't just a girl buying ice cream anymore; I was a target.

A tingling sensation danced across my skin, and I heard the soft pad of footsteps behind me. Reacting automatically, I turned around, throwing my hands up to defend myself. My heart outpaced my breaths as I recognized my attack. It was—it was Flynn, but not the Flynn I knew. His hair was disheveled, his body tense with tension, and every hair on his body seemed to stand on end as if he were about to shift. His eyes, usually a piercing blue, now glowed with a fiery yellow intensity, a greedy glow that sent cold chills down my spine.

I add. “What does this glow look like?” Rye asked. “Devon and Nate glow a bright iridescent silvery colour. Kaleb glows a bright darker blue colour and Reece glows a bright darker green colour. I also notice a darker blue halo around Kyalni and a darker green halo around Mykenzie. The halo seems to follow them. Nymyra also has a bright silver glow to her.” I answer. No one says anything, and I have a feeling they think I am crazy. I see Rye look at Chris, and I can tell they are communicating without words. None of the three women seemed to be phased by this. It’s like they already know.

The blue light illuminated my face in the darkened room, casting harsh shadows that matched the dread clawing its way up my throat. A bright, flashing red dot was pulsing against the digital grid. It was moving. It was moving at a speed that was mathematically impossible for a car. My mind raced through the possibilities, each one worse than the last. Car. Helicopter. Plane. Each option more terrifying than the previous.
