Her eyes locked on mine the second she entered, and I instantly felt weird—watched, judged, like I’d already failed some test she hadn’t said out loud. “Uh… hi?” I said, taking a step forward. “Who—” She didn’t even let me finish. She moved so fast, it didn’t register until her hand was around my neck. “What the hell—!” I gasped, grabbing her wrist. Her fingers tightened. I struggled against her grip, kicking, clawing, but she didn’t even flinch. And when I looked into her face—her eyes—I froze. They were yellow. Not hazel. Not gold. Bright, glowing yellow like something out of a horror movie. My brain couldn’t even process it.

Adeline reminisced. Sandra remained to stare at her, that's why Adeline went for a hug. "Don't be sad, Sandra. Please…" she said. Sandra's face remained straight, "I can't help being sad." "Alright," Adeline let go of her and looked at her friend's sad pouty face. "If I get that promotion, we will have a celebration. Exclusive for the two of us.” Sandra smiled happily at what Adeline had said. Even though she’s irritated with her, it was inevitable for her not to be carried away by the genuine kindness of the person she hated the most shows.

Without my knowledge, the book slipped out of my hand and I looked down at the book like I'm facing the real ghost and the sentence read, "...eyes, pale skin human." I desperately need to find the missing 30 pages. Damn!! Those 30 pages could have everything about the Heil!!!! *

A book suddenly got my attention, the title was written in a different language that's why I can't understand it but its content is written in English. I don't know why this book got me, the cover is just a plain black but it really feels different, like I need to read this. The most powerful creature, that's the words that are written in the first page. Vaewolfves, a werewolf-vampires hybrid. Pale skin, red lips, and has an ability to change its appearance in either vampire, werewolf, or human. It often doesn't show in an early age, the creature will stay in a human like appearance until twenty- five, where they discover themselves in a blood moon.

The cover filled me with a creeping, ice-cold dread. There he was, on the cover. Smiling and looking directly at me, it seemed. The man in yellow. Above that, the title burned itself into my brain: The King Wears Yellow. “And so can you,” I rasped. I placed a weak hand on my forehead and held it there. Was I feverish? Sick, hallucinating? I hadn’t bought that book . . . had I? I’d only glanced through it. Left it at The General Store, because it was just a crock of stupid shit. Hadn’t I only flipped through Bobby’s copy on the way home?

I'm surprised Crimson didn't complain more, but I guess he just completely accepted how there was no way he could get away. While I was waiting for them, I noticed a bright yellow shade at the corner of my eye. I turned my head to look at where it was coming from and saw the light bulb girl from earlier. She was about to enter a car, but then she noticed me looking at her. She smiled, but she didn't look happy at all. Instead, her smile was melancholic. As she looked away and entered the car, her colors slowly faded. That bright yellow shade around her appeared, only to vanish just some time later.

*VICKY* I slowly moved forward from behind the bin and watched as a slow smile appeared on his face. Once I stopped, he walked off the roof's ledge and softly landed right in front of me. He then removed the hat and in the sunlight, revealed his pale face. His cheekbones were very prominent, and there wasn't a single strand of hair on his head. His eyes were a deep golden yellow—the sign of a superior Kindred. I know because I had the same colored eyes.

The book looked unassuming tightly wrapped with a dark red clothed cover, embossed on it, a wolf painted silver, excitedly I slowly unwrapped its cover. The rhythmic pounding of my heart is a testament to my eagerness to learn. Yellowed pages delicately sewn in come into view, My eyes turn to meet Alex in a glance as he leans closer, his eyes a mix of curiosity and amusement.
