"You’re here today as a witness and as the plaintiff’s boyfriend, correct?"
"That’s right," he said, his tone casual but firm.
The defense lawyer, a wiry man with sharp features and a calculated smirk, immediately stood.
"Your Honour, I object to the term boyfriend. This is a court of law, not a high school gossip session."
The judge, a stern woman with steel-gray hair, raised an eyebrow.
"Overruled. Continue, Mr. Stanley."
Chris leaned back slightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Don’t worry, Mr. Parker. I’m perfectly capable of speaking as a witness without letting my ‘boyfriend status’ interfere."
