ملخص

Rena had never imagined how in only a few years, everything could change. Dealing with horrific heartache at the hands of the human prince, Blaine; and knowing that the whole of the Seven Realms were so very close to the start of a war. Prince Dorian had cut all ties and peace treaties from the other Six Realms. Rena's own father, the king of the Elven Realm, had drastically changed how he ruled his kingdom all because of a new advisor who was as mysterious as he was evil and cunning. Rena only hoped that maybe her older siblings would be able to find love and happiness in whatever romance the Fates had planned for them. Her own love had been destroyed, but how could the Fates be so cruel? What other plans did the Seven have for an Elven princess who still often pined for a human prince when he had cast her aside so easily? And would this Elven princess ever know truly, how much her human prince pined after his lost princess? Could they help their kingdoms stave off a war that could destroy everything?

Chapter One: The Spring Solstice
Rena sighed as she leaned against the ballroom wall; gazing out at all of the dancers on the floor. She watched as her eldest sister danced with every eligible suitor she could charm. Vera laughed as a tall human male with a grey wolf's mask whisked her away from her now sour dance partner. Rena only narrowed her eyes as she lost the couple in the crowd. She had a sinking feeling that she recognized that human; but leaving Vera to her fun, Rena decided to try and locate her second sister Valena. So devoted was she to her search, that Rena missed the hand that grabbed her around the waist and turned her quickly. Squealing with laughter, Rena cocked an eyebrow up at her only brother as she smacked him lightly in his shoulder as he chuckled. "Valerian?! What in the Seven's name?!" She said trying to sound curt but she could only grin as her brother laughed. Val's aqua-coloured eyes twinkled with mirth from behind the peacock's mask he sported every spring. He continued to la

Past Heartaches and Present Troubles
Rena giggled as Val sent her into another spin on the dancefloor. As Rena went into a spin to spin back to her brother, a distant figure in the crowd caught her eye. Rena froze as her deep violet eyes roved over the crowd to find the person she thought she had seen. She stopped searching as she spotted the tall human in the simple black mask with deep emerald eyes. His eyes flashed as he turned and caught her gaze from across the room. Blaine knew as he caught the eye of the elven princess in the silver butterfly mask, that he had found his Rena. He bowed slightly as his mouth turned up into a grin before he moved silently out onto the balcony and started down the outer balcony stairs. As Rena caught the eye of the human with the emerald eyes, her whole world tipped. There was only one man she had met in her long lifetime that had such stark green emerald eyes as Blaine had. She felt rooted, frozen to the spot she was in on the dancefloor as the floor felt like it had fallen away. She was deaf to Val's words as he called to her from a distant, far shore. Five Years Prior Valerian: Valerian sat in his private chambers, finishing up paperwork for pay increase for his men throughout the ranks of the military. He would never forget how the whole of his men had rioted when he had been taken away to the healers. His lieutenant explained to Valerian that none of the men cared whatever lover he chose as he was the best commanding officer they had had for three millennia. Better wages for his men, better living quarters and better weapons were the only things a commanding officer could give his men; and Val hoped that they would be happy with these things. Rena: Five years prior Rena hummed happily as she walked through the corridors of the castle, reading from one of her favourite books. Present Times Valerian was still resentment for how Blaine and Dorian had blindsided Rena and he. He knew it wasn't fair to not include Thane, but Val also knew the two older men had used military tactics in order to make sure the younger man had obeyed his orders.
