Mag-log inNaomi Belle was raised in the shadows—an elite assassin whose name alone made the underworld flinch. But after uncovering the truth about her stolen past, and a slight problem, she walks away from blood and darkness to return home… only to discover her parents are alive and she has an overprotective brother who think she’s an angel. Unfortunately, Naomi’s idea of “gentle and well-behaved” involves resisting the urge to snap necks when irritated. Keeping her secret identity hidden is hard enough—until a nosy, sharp-eyed businessman named Stephen Smith literally catches her red-handed. Instead of exposing her, Stephen starts teasing his way into her double life—and her guarded heart. His relentless humor, maddening charm, and inconveniently golden personality chip away at Naomi’s killer instincts, one smirk at a time. But love doesn’t erase danger. The underworld hasn’t forgotten its deadliest recruit, and Naomi’s family and Stephen become perfect leverage. Between keeping her halo straight for her brother and hiding a gun under her cardigan, Naomi will have to decide which identity to protect—and who she’s willing to kill for when both worlds collide.

Tears mixed with sweat gathered on her face, attaching her hair to them.
The howls were coming closer, making her heart throb heavily.
“Leave me alone! Let me be!” Eileen screamed out anxiously sensing the thunderous paws of her father's warrior gaining in on her despite her running, her subconscious mind screamed at her as she ran, weaving off the gigantic leaves and tree branches that threatened to obstruct her path as she ran for her dear life.
The tree branches slightly left a cut on her face, scratching off her delicate smooth skin.
Eileen widened in terror when she realized they were catching up which made her lose hope about escaping.
She couldn't help but blame her useless self at that moment, had she been able to shift into her wolf form, she would have been able to successfully escape without getting very tired but here she was wolf less.
All the teenagers in their pack and her step-siblings have shifted into their wolf form which made her realize those rumors about her being cursed were true.
Eileen was able to speed up a little bit because of her father's blood running through her veins or else she would have broken down.
“Stop there, Eileen! You and I know you can't escape from us!” She could hear her father's directives yelling in unison from a distance. “This is an order from your father, do not dare carry another step!”
Eileen was unable to carry another step forward as she recognized the voice that spoke last, it was her father's command, and she instantly became submissive.
“No, please! Just let me go!” She pleaded while tears streamed down her cheeks like a few months' baby being derived from her food.
Since her plans failed, she has no choice but to stay without moving an inch just like she was commanded.
Almost immediately, she was roughly given a kick which led her to roll into the damp and go downhill till her body finally stopped. She instantly took her stand, in front of her father, like a lost puppy.
Her gaze carefully moved and landed on the five people at her father's back, two were her stepbrothers while the remaining were his father's warriors. Without anyone telling her, she knew she was being kicked by one of her stepbrothers.
“Please, please Father, I'll do anything you want but can you please not give me away to the lunatic Alpha.” She pleaded on her knees with tears welling down her cheeks.
“I'll make you proud, father. I'll make sure to be the most hardworking lady in the pack, I promise you, Father, just don't give away !”Eileen begged, but her father never uttered a single word.
Wasn't it enough that her father enslaved her, she became a maid for her stepmother and her step-siblings. Not only that, a single day never passed that she wasn't beaten by one of them as they must always see one or two things to hold her responsible.
“Enough is enough!” She wanted to scream out those words to her father but she couldn't as she knew that would be the end of her.
She has always hoped to marry the person the moon goddess already arranged for her but she never expected that her father would want to marry her off to the lunatic Alpha who always kills his wife after three months of marriage.
“Why do you find it difficult to understand me? Isn't it enough that you killed your mother? Now, you're trying to do the same to me!”
“But guess what! I won't let you have your way the way you had with your mother! You selfish brat!” Eileen's father brutally cursed angrily with a clenched fist.
Eileen's jaw dropped instantly even though that wasn't the first time her father would use such words for her but it had been years since she heard it last.
“I'm sorry father, I'm sorry for killing my mom when she gave birth to me! I'm sorry I'm the cause of her death! Please, I'm sorry, father!”
“I don't want to be married off to another man that's not my mate! How can I live without you in another pack, Please Father, reject Alpha Jayden's command!” Eileen cried out, hoping her cries would yield a result.
“This is the alpha's order. I have no right as an elder to object to the Alpha's request!”
“ Do you know that our family will be greatly rewarded and all the pack members will forever remember you for your good deed? Isn't it great that you'll be remembered for helping the pack?” He said before turning his back against her.
“I'm I the only person in the pack, father? I don't want to be remembered for anything, I want to enjoy my lifestyle as a teenager, is it too hard for me to ask for?” She screamed out like she had gone insane which instantly resorted to a loud resounding slap.
“Shut that your mouth, bastard!”
“Is this how you repay your mother? Is this how you repay years of taking thorough care of you?”
“Get hold of yourself!” He yelled with a regretful gaze.
Eileen spat out blood while boiling in rage even though she wasn't able to escape, she realized her life would be ruined for other people's happiness, and the thought of that made her feel extreme pain.
“Now, go back inside your room and allow the maids to dress you up beautifully darling,”
“Remember, if you try to escape, it won't be funny! Do not try anything funny, Eileen!”
“Go and wait for the alpha's order, you'll be leaving tonight!” He said.
Eileen was roughly dragged on the ground without being able to utter a single word, she could only keep watching her father with her eyes filled with thousands of hatred that can never be dissolved with no amount of love.
“Everybody, Everyone, will pay back tenfold for putting me in this mess!” She mumbled with her eyes closed.
I walked back into the shared room defeated. My pride had packed its bags and left me a few minutes ago. "Weren't you sleeping in another room? Why're you back so soon?" Damien asked, eyes glued to his book like he wasn't the reason my peace fled the empire. I narrowed my eyes. "Did a thief break into the bedchambers?! Why did all the other beds in the palace disappear?" I huffed. He barely reacted. "Maybe grandma did that." Of course. That crafty old matriarch. She wanted heirs — tiny soldiers crawling around soon. But I never thought she would be this tactically ruthless. I truly underestimated the political warfare of this dynasty. I had no choice. My soldiers... my reinforcements... my spare bedding... slain. I wrapped myself aggressively in the quilt and laid at the very edge of the bed, fortifying my border. There'd be no invasion tonight. "We've slept together before. Is doing that really necessary?" Damien asked. "Turn off the lanterns. I want to sleep now," I ordered.
I watched carefully as Damien's mother fed Queen Mother the medicine crafted by the physician I found — the herbs we bought with Damien's ridiculous money-battling at that auction. The potion smelled bitter but held power; I could feel it. "After the queen mother drinks this medicine not only will it cure her illness but also extend her life quality." the doctor assured. Damien's mom let out a breath she'd been holding for days. "That's wonderful! Thank you doctor! You're the only one who has truly saved this family. Name any price." The physician shook her head immediately. "No need, Mrs Woods translated my medical book in exchange for treatments. This was our agreement. I'm not greedy." Oh. So she was impressed after all. As she should be. "I'll head back to the mountain now." "I'll escort you back," I said automatically. She held up a hand. "No need. This is the rest of the medicine I've made with the materials you've brought. It's life saving." She handed me a small sack
"Mr and Mrs Masterson, fancy meeting you here," Bosley said, smug as sin, his eyes lingering on Billie a moment too long. I felt Billie relax at my side. Her thoughts snapped: 'It's no coincidence. He's here to cause trouble along with Elaine.' Of course he was. "I heard your grandmother was sick. Shame there's some great items here tonight— I bet you'd want them a lot," Bosley said. "I'll make sure to snatch everything away." Billie crossed her arms, chin raised like she was about to declare war on him. "You think you can compete with my husband? How foolish. Compared to him you're just a firefly trying to outshine the moon." My brows rose. Am I that great in her eyes, huh? Damn my natural charm. She wasn't done. "You're barely worth mentioning," she hissed. "You—" Bosley sputtered. "You what? You're despicable," Billie snapped. "Back in the day I would have dragged you out and thrown you into an oven for punishment." Alice's eyes flew wide. Elaine quickly stepped forward
Holden and Mom hovered like skittish sparrows beside Grandma's bed. The room felt too small for all the noise—beeping monitors, sharp breaths, people holding their tempers like any attitude could be bad for us. "Can she really find that doctor?" Alice asked me as we waited for her. "It's been three hours already." "She can do anything," Holden insisted. Since when was he such a supporter? He'd better redirect his eyes. The door eased open. Elaine led in a nervous, smiling man—older, oily, the type who smelled like he might be homeless. "What are you doing here Elaine?" Alice huffed as Elrond walked into grandma's room followed by an older man. Elaine—too calm, too practiced—answered before I could. "I heard grandma was sick. This is doctor Moeller the elusive doctor who can cure anything. I think he can definitely help her out," she said. I raised a brow. "He can save my grandma?" "That's right, he's a descendent of famous doctors as well and has the medical skills. You can loo
I woke up feeling something warm—and... hairy? My eyes blinked open to the dim light of morning and landed on a broad chest under my cheek, covered in a faint dusting of brown hair. My arm was slung across him. His arm, in turn, was locked around me, holding me close even in his sleep. Luigi. He
Last night had been a doozy—and the day hadn't been much better. Nothing happened, not really. Luigi slept in a separate room, went to work early, and left me in a quiet house with nothing but my thoughts and the maids fluttering around like nervous butterflies. They all liked me, which was... stra
I came to sitting up, which felt dramatic considering all I'd done was fall and mangle my head a bit on something metal. The room swam like someone had turned the lights down on the world and then brightened them back up wrong. My hand was grabbed and when I focused, there he was—Leonardo Lionetti—
As expected, my plan was working. Blake Company stock was plummeting beautifully, just as I'd designed it to do if I was ever ousted. A little push from me here and there only made the free fall more spectacular. It wasn't easy to get where I was before — crawling up a mountain made of smug old m
