Calypso continued to study his face, realizing something was wrong. She was about to ask him what was going on when he gently asked, “Can I talk to you for a second, Caly?”

“Sure,” she said, noticing the seriousness of his tone.

“Let’s go out here to the garden,” he said as he started walking out the doors. She followed him and almost ran into his back when he suddenly stopped and turned around to face her. “Calypso, I’ve always seen you as sort of a little sister to me, and I wanted to say I am so proud of you. You have grown up into a beautiful young lady. I wish that I would be able to see you grow into a young woman, and see you get married and all that. Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards for me. I am proud to have known you and been able to watch you grow up for the short amount of time that I did. You are an amazingly kind, loving person, even if you are a bit stubborn, don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise. I hope the thing with you and Travis works out.”

I’m not that fragile. I can defend myself and fight now, I’m one of the best women fighters in the pack. They just don’t understand, I’m not a little helpless girl anymore, I’m eighteen now, shit!” Calyso said irritated. “Language, Caly, you know I don’t like when you cuss, you can get your point across without sounding vulgar. Have a little self-respect and class,” Rae reprimanded. “Ok, Miss Prim and Proper. But there hasn’t been a lock-down like this in two years. I need to find Eli, so he can let me know what is going on. He always tells me everything, even when he’s not supposed to.” “Please, just be careful.”

    Calypso scanned the yard, the walls, the training area, and the gardens looking for her brother Eli, who always helped her get through the day, but he was nowhere to be found. “That’s strange,” she thought, “he’s usually nearby, ready to help me if I have a panic attack.”“How are you doing today, sweety?” came Seraphina’s voice from behind her.
