17: The alpha king's lost brother

The sound of his voice caused me to flinch. I stared blankly at him, unable to find my voice. "You can let go now." I finally summoned the courage to say.

He set me on my feet and placed his hands behind him, "are you okay?"

I nodded Still unsure of what had happened while I was trying to recover from the shock of almost falling to my death.

"You seem like you didn't know what you were doing back there. Were you trying to escape?"

"No," I lied. From what I could tell he looked like he was an higher ranking wolf there was something very familiar about him but I could not point it out.

"That's okay, if I had to serve in this palace I would do the same."

"Thank you for saving me," I bowed my head in acknowledgment.

I spun around on my heels to leave before he would grow the conversation. There was nobody else here, the guards were not necessarily patrolling the garden and and there was no telling what he could do and from what I'd seen from the men in the past, it was much better to avo
