Chapter 32: Wren's Betrayal
As Dylan took to taking care of Wren’s wound, all other eyes were on Jill. She told them even with data slowly taking over, this wasn’t normal. Charles ran inside his core and scanned the whole area. It was just as Jill said. Cassidy, Dylan, and Noah were all under 40% data. To be in this world it was only natural to be slowly affected by data consumption but being human kept it as a very slow takeover. Once they left the box all data would have remained inside except for Noah due to his surgery.
“What did you do to me?” Wren asked, pointing towards Logan.

All Cassidy could do was sit and watch as Jill walked out of the core. She reached out her hand, desperate to grab hold of her but stopped herself. She knew she had to let her go so all she could do was clutch onto her backpack and keep it safe. Oaken Hills was a small town with a varied history. The whole town was built around a sacred tree. A long time ago according to the town's history a man named Oscar Oaken discovered the dilapidated and run down town of Oaken Hills and vowed to bring it back to life with the few locals who refused to leave. The only thing he had brought on his travels was a seed from an oak tree. It was customary in his family for many generations that once you reached 18 you were given a seed from the family’s oak tree and had to travel the world looking for a place to call home. Once you found that place you were to plant the seed and if you chose well then, the seed would bring prosperity and good luck to you.
