Chapter 43

Jenna's POV 

"Any man who thinks cheating on his wife just because she wants something for herself is not a man, let alone an Alpha. You rejected Jenna for wanting a child. I reject you and your pack for being a loser, Chris Bellinton."

"From this moment on, Power Wolf Pack and its Alpha don't fall under my kingdom. They're on their own. All the treaties I proposed to them is ended. It's a rogue pack now." Jace announced annoyedly.

"Alpha king, no! Don't do that to my pack." Chris fell on his knees and grasped Jace's leg.

"Be grateful I'm not burning your pack down, Bellinton. For whatever you did to Jenna when she was carrying my child, I could do much worse. Consider this my kindness." He kicked him away. "Take him away, guards. I don't want to see him in my kingdom again."

"Your Highness, please don't." Chris beseeched.

"If you beg again, I might as well cast you out of your lands, Alpha Chris. Now get lost."

The guards dragged him away. The silence in the room was throbbing, vibrating. What was supposed to be a happy celebration turned into a terrifying celebration.

"As for you two," I held my breath as my eyes landed on Sasha holding her big belly.

I hope Jace considers the safety of the child in her womb. They should not get punished for her mistakes. 

"What you have done is heinous. I should kill you both here in front of everyone and make an example of you. A part of me wishes to burn you alive and let the world witness the consequences of destroying innocent lives. But..." He paused, his eyes sweeping across the gathered Alphas and Lunas. "I'm not that cruel. I'm not that brutal. As your Alpha King, I'll do the right thing."

He looked back with a hardened gaze, "However, if I simply allow you to walk away after what you have done, what message will that send to the others who make a living out of destroying people and tearing families apart? They will believe they can continue doing it. They will believe that as long as they hide their crimes well enough, there will be no consequences."

"But I will not allow that. I will not allow another family to be destroyed, and hence, by the authority vested in me... As your Alpha King, I sentence them both to death." 

My breaths hitched. My heart constricted as my eyes stilled on Sasha's belly. Not just me, the entire room was whispering the cruelty happening to the unborn child. 

"Jace, think about the baby." I offered slowly. 

It gave courage to others and they began to request it too. 

"Yes, your Highness, why punish the baby for the parents' crime! They deserve to come to the world."

"Let the baby come to this world." 

"Yes, please consider his life."

"The baby is innocent."

Jace raised a hand, casting a shroud of silence over the room. 

"I am not done yet." He said. "They will remain alive until that child is born. I am not that cruel that I'll kill the child for their crimes."

"But..." He glanced around. "I won't let him be with these monsters. This couple here are monsters. They deliberately deceived, manipulated, stole, and destroyed innocent lives for their own gain— that is far more dangerous. Just imagine what would happen if I left the child with them. They'll make the innocent one like them."

"The child deserves better. It deserves to come to this world and live a good life. That being said, after the child is born, I will find him a good family— a loving home, parents who will raise him with kindness and teach him right from wrong. Then, and only then, will his parents face the punishment they have earned." 

Faint voices erupted in the room. They accepted this. They agreed to the Alpha King's decision. As Jace was letting them sink it in, a couple came forward. 

"Your majesty, we would like to ask something if you allow?" 

"Yes, you may."

"My wife and I have been planning for a baby. Unfortunately, my wife is physically weak to carry my child. For now. The doctor suggested we wait for a few years. If you don't mind, Your Highness," The Alpha looked at his wife. 

She hopefully smiled and finished his words, "We would love to adopt this baby. We don't care what gender he or she has. We just want to be parents."

Jace's face softened into an appreciative smile. He nodded in agreement as he extended a hand out, "Wonderful. Alpha Austin and Luna June, you're my biggest supporter. I trust you both with this child's life."

"Thanks, Alpha King." They bowed and stepped back, mixing in the crowd. 

There was nothing to do now. Hence, Jace commanded Oakley to take Paul to the dungeons where he would wait until the birth of his child. Sasha was home arrested in our castle, and it was Martha's responsibility to deliver her baby and look after her until then. 

"Now, shall we begin the party?" A chorus of excitement buzzed in the air. "DJ, play the music. Change the lights. Enjoy yourselves everyone." Jace announced. 

Soon enough the atmosphere shifted. Everyone was dancing and chatting around. Lunas laughed and Alphas discussed things other than business. Those Lunas, who intended to put me down in the NightShade Pack in Sasha's influence, appeared with guilty faces. 

"Luna, we want to apologize for what happened that day. Trust me, we were manipulated by Luna Sasha." One of them spoke for all. 

I smiled tightly because I knew the truth. They were only blaming Sasha because she wasn't here. Not that I'm a fool. I am aware of their feelings towards me. They were jealous earlier. They are jealous now as well for seeing the crown on my head. 

"It's okay. But I've got something for you. Pluto," I summoned Pluto, who was carrying the change of money I had given him to keep safe in his pocket. 

"Here," I slapped their money in their hands. "Have this too." I handed a box of diamond bracelets right over their little money. 

"Next time when you want to be charitable, don't be stingy. Keep a big heart and give happily." Their heads lowered in shame. 

I wallowed in their mortification and walked away to join a group of Lunas Jace said were from the packs he most trusted. I was having a good time with them when someone tapped my shoulder. 

When I turned, Jared's face came to my view. 

"Your majesty, my son would like to say something." Jace grinned as he held Jared with his front facing me. 

"What does your son want to say, Alpha King?" 

"Baby, say it." He slightly moved Jared and he squealed, "Mamma."

"Awww, my baby's saying Mamma." My heart swelled in pleasure. I took him from Jace and kissed his cheek. 

Then I introduced my little man to the Lunas. They all went puppy-like excited on seeing him. They couldn't stop praising him. 

The rest of the night was spent in delight. We cut the cake and danced on everyone's demand. Other couples joined us on the dance floor, until eventually it became All-Alphas and All-Lunas dancing in groups. 

"He belongs with the men." Jace stole our son from him and took him to the men. 

All the Lunas and I stood there, frozen and surprised, as they all danced around Jace, entertaining my son. 

Emotions made my eyes water. I can't believe this is happening. 

Chris is taken care of. What I wanted, Jace gave it to me. He gave me a grand welcome and everyone accepted me with open arms. 

This is surreal. 

I hope it stays this way forever.
