Nyx's POVI sat at the kitchen table, pouring over the books and research I had gathered on Kieran's illness. I was determined to find a cure, or at least something to slow down the progression of the disease. As I read through the pages, one passage caught my eye. It mentioned a specific type of tree bark that had been used in ancient medicine to treat similar illnesses. I felt a wave of hope and quickly grabbed my bag, deciding to head out and search for the tree.Just as I was about to leave, Kieran walked into the kitchen, a look of concern on his face. "Where are you going?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should share my discovery with him. He had waved it off when I asked earlier, almost like it didn't bother him much. But now, something about his expression made me trust him, and I decided to confide in him. "I think I found something that can help your illness," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.Kieran's eyes lit up with interest, an

Kieran's POVI lay in bed, my body still weak from the ordeal I had just gone through. But as I saw Nyx walk back into the room, my heart felt lighter. She was my mate, my everything. And seeing her by my side made me feel like I could take on the world. Once again, she had gone to calm the Trinity pack members waiting outside to speak with me."Nyx," I whispered, my voice still weak from exhaustion. Nyx rushed to my side, her eyes filled with concern. "Kieran, are you feeling better?" she asked, her voice soothing like a melodious tune.I beamed at her, trying to reassure her. "I'm feeling better, Nyx," I responded. "All thanks to you."Nyx smiled back, her eyes shining with tears. "I'm just glad you're okay, Kieran," she said. "I was so scared when I thought I was going to lose you."I gave her a toothy grin. That was the second time she had mentioned being scared of losing me today. I knew she wasn't lying. I could still see her glassy eyes even though it was now getting dry. She

Nyx's POV After spending a few more days, we left the Trinity pack, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. Kieran had told me we were heading to the Diwood pack, a place I had never been before. But I wasn't bothered of what might happen there, I was past that feeling of unnecessary worry now. I had some sort of reassurance—a reassurance of Kieran being able to protect me, no matter how ugly the situation might get. The events of the last few days slowly came back to me, and I couldn't help but smile as I reminisce on them. Kieran and I had spent the past three days in each other's arms, making love and getting to know each other better. I was already so in love with Kieran that I couldn't imagine being without him. He was my everything, the very sight of him gave me strength. I looked sideways as I felt his hands brush against mine, I couldn't help but notice the way he looked at me. His eyes were filled with love and adoration, and without anyone telling m

Nyx's POVI tried to adjust my eyes to the white bulb as my eyes flickered open. The air in the room seemed to have seized and I could feel my breath quicken as I tried to take in as much air as possible.I looked around the room, not understanding what was happening at first—my mind feels like a maze—totally empty of thoughts. But when I looked around the room once again, trying to understand the situation, everything slowly came back to me.As we prepared to leave the Diwood pack, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Kieran was acting strange, but that only happens when he wasn't wearing the mask. And deep inside me, I knew there was more to that. I knew, the Diwood pack must have done that to achieve something, but Kieran seemed to care less, he seemed to overlook their wicked gesture—all on an account of keeping the peace. And that really put a sick feeling inside of me.So, I decided to do some digging, to see if I could uncover what was going on. I had snuck

Nyx's POVIt's been more than five days since we left the Diwood pack. And currently, we are heading back to Windwalker after briefly branching Darkmoon. Darkmoon was one other pack in Kieran's list—the list of packs he'd wanted to add to fight the war of the moon goddess. The Darkmoon Alpha had been quite reasonable and didn't give Kieran much problem like the other Alphas. I could still remember the understanding and respect that swept across his gaze when he talked to Kieran. In all the packs we had visited, I could say Darkmoon is the best. The pack members were most friendly and had treated us warmly, but that wasn't the only reason I was happy. I was mainly happy because I was able to get a cure to Kieran's illness. Kieran seemed to believe it was of no use. He had tried to dismiss it when I talked to him but I made sure he took the whole medication. Since then, Kieran had been sleeping for what felt like an eternity, and I had been keeping watch over him, making sure he was
