บททั้งหมดของ Divorce? Never Letting Go!: บทที่ 41 - บทที่ 50

Tamara.I whirl around, facing a rattled Alex.Something is off, I can feel it.I swallow a sudden lump and force my response out. “Yeah, I just got here…,” I trail off, my head tilting to look at the hallway and then back to Alex. “What— what was that about?” I ask, my eyes on him.I see him tense a little, then he gives me an awkward smile. “It was nothing,” he says too fast, trying to downplay the whole thing but I know what I saw.His mom looks angry, the kind of anger that comes after a heated argument, and Alex, he looked visibly shaken seeing me at the door, like he was scared I'd hear what I'm not supposed to.And now? I can see the way his mouth is twitching. I know him well enough to know that he's lying. So, I don't cave.I cross my arms and shoot him a glare. “That wasn't nothing, Alex. Your mom, she seemed really angry, I could literally see the steam coming out of her head and then when I greeted, she ignored me, that can't be nothing.” I press on.He exhaled.”Just our u

Tamara.I left Alex's office mulling over his words. He often jokes a lot and we'd laugh over it.But this time, something tells me he isn't joking, the look in his eyes, his tone, his facial expression…I still can't wrap my head around all of it.I'm not sure he doesn't want Delilah, the wedding but it feels like a force is pulling him back.He seems burdened —confused, or not.Either way, I don't stick around to figure it out. I have a meeting, we'd revisit this some other time. The rest of the day went by in a blur, meetings, finance review, signing out payment, basically everything to avoid financial disaster.By the time I have to go home, I decided to take a detour to my mother. I didn't call her back like I was supposed to, so I figured it's best we see. Even though she's in best hands, I'm her only child, I should make out time more often to visit.I don't tell either of them that I'd stop by though.I shut my laptop off, grabbed my bag and head right out of my office. Then,

Killian. My mind is in a haze, torn between stopping Tamara as she goes and facing Chloe, who's right there, staring at me, waiting for some sort of explanation.I don't have any.Listening to Tamara threatening to take her mother off of that hospital had hit me hard. She isn't bluffing. Tamara can be really stubborn when she really wants to.If she takes her mom away, then it's done.I can't pin her down anymore, she'll leave me forever.I can't let my anger get between her mother's health though. Tamara taking her away means denying her of good medical care.I sigh.Dozens of thoughts are running through my head, it feels like it's going to explode.I'm exhausted, from all of this stunt— tired of lying to myself, to everyone else.Especially Chloe. It's no longer about hurting Tamara back, it stopped being that for a really long time.I told them I was keeping Tamara in this marriage just to get back at her, but that's not entirely true.I– I — I was just stalling. If I didn't, then

Killian.I tried to call Chloe last night, to know if she got home safe but I couldn't reach her. After too many failed attempts, I let it be, simply sending her a text, sticking to what I had said.I can't go on with this stunt, no matter what.Chloe might be angry right now but she'll come to realize just like I have that it's best we end this.As of her question about what happens with Tamara after now.I still do not have a solid answer to that.I knocked at her door last night but got no response, just deafening silence. Then I went back to my room thinking of a way to get her to change her mind.I toss and turn all night, barely able to sleep-– she was all I could think of.The next morning. I got up earlier than usual, wanting for us to talk— like actually talk before she leaves for work. But the second I got to her door, hands poised to knock, I freeze. My eyes grow wide when I hear the sounds coming from her room— Tamara's moaning to the unmistakable low hum of a vibrator. It

Killian. It's taking more patience than I normally require to maintain speed limit. My right foot keeps twitching on the gas pedal, as though it has a will of it's own.I can't thinking straight, can't stop thinking— all that is in my head is Seb’s message. It's stuck there, like a bad image refusing to go.I just don't get it. Tamara has changed, she doesn't even go to clubs, never liked the noise there. And now, she's there, with him?I drive all the way through, my hands clenched tight on the wheels, breaking all the speed limit now. I could afford a ticket, whatever.I need to get to Tamara or I swear I'll just lose it.Seb says it's in his club, backing it up with a photo. I've stared at it more time than I could count.Tamara is there, in her work outfit of course, nothing revealing but she's close, so damn close to him…almost snuggling up to him.And then, there's a smile, so bright, so warm. It's been ages since I saw her smile, she seems so carefree around him— it could be th
