A Book I Read Novels & Stories

Something is suspicious about this. The last time I remembered, I stumbled upon a novel. It was an ad that I accidentally clicked which leads me to read chapter one. When I glanced at the book title, I got hooked. Well, who wouldn't get hooked if the title is ‘In the name of a psychopath.’ Because of that title, I immediately got hooked and read chapter one. While reading, I seemed to stumble upon the same name as mine. However, I didn't pay attention to it since it happened sometimes and she wasn't an important character anyway.

This was my last hope. “This is my last hope! This fucking study is…” I would have roared, body trembling and palms sweating when my gaze fell on the bookshelf. “Maybe I'll find a book that will help with my madness after this.” I sighed, giving up. I began to rummage through the covers, hoping for a title that would catch my attention. Shawn seemed to read a lot of books on self-growth and improvement. He also read a few about redemption but when I found one titled: ‘The Weightiness of Guilt’, something about it drew me closer.

CHAPTER 51 The best thing about nights is that I can finally read a book without any interruption. When it comes to daytime, I feel like everything is going to ruin my reading experience. The first time I tried to read a book on school was when I was in high school. At first it was great to read inside the library, but when people started to treat library as a cafeteria, that’s when I lost my focus and passion for staying and reading inside. Not that I was expecting anyone to be there seeing that it was late but at times, one can't be too sure especially on some things. ''Now, let's see what Lucas and his group reads.'' I murmured, walking towards a shelf of old books. I picked one up and immediately, the title caught my attention. It was about old magic of kings, queens and demons and somehow, I had a feeling that I ought to read that book. I didn't know what drew me in but soon, I found myself reading the book.

Everything else in the movie was just over the top for me. I sit back and open the book. With the book in hand and some music playing in the background I was soon transported into my own world. I don't know why, but as soon as I picked up a book to start reading, the whole world around me can go up in flames and I would not even realize it. This is why my mom banned me from reading at home.

I always wanted to have one. The books reached the top of the ceiling and there were ladders everywhere. I walked around the library, scanning the books. Some of them were old and some of them were new. There was also a desk in the corner of the room, stacked with books and book markers. I walked over to the desk and picked up the first book. A thousand Splendid Suns. I remembered when I was younger how I cried my heart out while reading this book. It's so well written and I couldn't get enough of it.

I looked around the large library on the fifteenth floor of the office. Two years I worked here, I never visited the library because of course work is more important. Besides being used as a display, this library is usually used for programmers who want to work in peace. If Big Man's secretary hadn't taken Rhysand and me to the library, I might have been the only employee who had never visited this room. I love reading. Reading novels. The first novel I read was by Louisa May Alcott; Little Woman, and then moved on to other feminist novels such as Handmaid's Tale and Pride and Prejudice—the book I'm holding right now.

I went to my library, took my favourite book and went towards the garden, thinking I might as well sit there and read to clear my mind for sometime, aside from getting the album back. Everything was right there, where I left it yesterday, no one dared to touch anything, because I didn't order anyone to pick anything up from there. The album was placed at the side. I remembered that I threw it far away yesterday, but dismissed thinking someone must have picked it up and placed it back. I laid down after popping the chocolate in my mouth and started reading my book, by placing it above my face to block the sunlight. I was reading PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. It was my favourite book.

"What are you reading? Besides the textbook." The change in subject threw me. "Um, I just finished The Stand by Stephen King." His eyes lit up. "The Stand? That's over a thousand pages. You actually finished it?" "I've read it three times," I admitted. "Three times?" He looked genuinely impressed. "Most people won't even read it once because of the length." "The length is part of the appeal," I said, feeling slightly more confident talking about books. "You get to live in that world for longer, get to know the characters so deeply. It's like being part of something bigger than yourself."
