A Book I Read Novels & Stories

Lisa's POV I slammed the heavy book shut, my fingers tingling from the weight of flipping through so many pages. My eyes burned, not just from staring at ink for too long, but from the fire of triumph rushing through me. I had done it. I had read all of them—the very same books Enzo had marked, the ones he had teased me about, the ones he said would never hold my interest for long. Every word was carved into my mind like scratches on stone.

ISABELLE’S POV I flip the page of the book with the help of my left hand. The name of the book which I am currently reading is “The tales of Ash Ville”. It is a nice book and it includes the horror stories of the town. It is a fictional book but I like it and has captured my attention. I found this in the library a few weeks back and I thought to read it. Today I saw it in the books which I had not read so I decided to read this one.

"I won't even ask where it came from" We eat, then sit in the living room beside the fire reading. There's a shelf with books, all kinds of books and Carla said she wanted me to read to her. The last time I read anything was back in college. Other than the comments on my I*******m, I don't read. Later when she's asleep, I pick a novel. Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. It looks interesting so I settle down and read it.

I felt as though I had stepped into a dream. As I walked down the aisle, I ran my fingertips along the spines of the books, feeling the smooth leather and the raised letters of their titles. The air was heavy with the scent of musty pages and wood polish. I slipped out a brown book from the shelves and gazed at the title. It read, 'the lion and the crown.' the title drew me in, but I could not spend my time reading this book. I had a goal. I walked further down the aisle until I read the centre of the room.

His eyes never left my face, and I just couldn't bring myself to stare back at him. I was about to leave when I spotted the book he was reading from the corner of my eyes. He had closed the book when I walked in, so I saw the cover and title, "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I looked up at him in astonishment, "I didn't think you would be interested in classic literature."

I stood up, getting nearer to the book spot but not touching it. I read the text in the book. "You're Locked." it says. I don't know if I should roll my eyes to it's obviousness but yeah, I am locked here undeniably sticker and I knew it already. The book turn to another page again and stops. " And you're looking for something to solve so you can get out of here." My knees are shaking and my eyes widened. How did it know I'm thinking it? It turns to other pages again which seems like it's answering my thoughts and it's terrifying. "It's because I can read you. "

Reading a book made me feel safe. Reading made me feel like I wasn't trapped in the house with my abuser. It made me forget the bruises and broken bones. It made me forget my hunger and fears. I was whisked away in whatever fantasy land that I was reading. It gave me hope that I could live a life like that in my next life. I'm happy that Theós and Aries let me continued to read while I stay here. I didn't know what I would do if I couldn't do that.

For the first time in a long time, I felt a bit of normalcy in doing something as basic as reading a book. I was finding peace in my enemy's presence.

I want to read! I stood up the sofa and half run to the books. Damn all my fav’s are here! This is heaven! I got a book entitled ‘The stars of us’. Just as I was about to read the first page of the book, my phone vibrated from my pocket. Ohhh, it’s Elocin. I know what she wants, probably can wait to hear what I was gonna say so she would like to talk about it on the phone. Gosh! “Hello” I answered.

Other than my bestie, April of course. I can see the woodland straight in front of me and a lake, it’s serene and tranquil. Perfect for sitting on the deck and reading a book. I’m a huge book nerd and at the moment I’m in my classical era and currently reading Anna Karenina. One of my all-time favorites but it is an epic.
