Too many was the number I came up with a heartbeat before a hand closed on my hood and wrenched it backward. “It’s her!” a male voice snarled. Tristan was already on his feet, robes cast aside and an axe glowing in his palm. “Is this a fight you truly wish to pick?” he asked the warriors. “Are you so certain a child of god is worth your lives?” It wasn’t worth it. None of this made sense. Yet everyone seemed ready to slay one another over me regardless. “ Girl,” the old man growled, drawing my attention back to him.

Our warriors had come and were chasing after the rogues. I moved quickly to check on her. I wish I knew her name. She was unconscious on the floor, but I could hear her heart. I turned her over, and I swear I wanted to kill Gunner all over again. Her beautiful face was bruising. I wanted to carry her, but I was plastered in rogues blood. Another warrior offered to carry her when he was passing me a pair of pants, but my eyes flashed. There was no way Cobalt was letting anyone else carry her. Another warrior gave me a bottle of water to clean some of the blood on my body, and only then I lifted her from the floor in my arms.

Roman POV I got an urgent mind link from my warriors to get to my brother Reign’s home, my pulse hammering in my chest as I raced there. I contacted by mind link my oldest brother, Hamza, and a few trusted warriors to meet me there. Calling on my wolf, I pushed through the terrain as fast as I could, grabbing only a t-shirt and joggers, which I tied around my neck to change into later. Every second mattered. Every second was a chance to prevent more suffering.

The warrior's body crumpled lifelessly to the ground. Two more warriors charged at Blaze from opposite sides. He caught one by the throat, lifting him off the ground with one hand. With a swift motion, he crushed the man's windpipe, and then threw him aside like a rag doll. The other warrior aimed a punch at Blaze's face, but Blaze blocked it effortlessly, countering with a lightning-fast strike to the heart. The warrior's eyes widened in shock as he felt his heart stop, and he fell to the ground, dead.

“Our lands have been plagued by unknown creatures from unknown locations. They’ve destroyed packs, they’ve destroyed families and as your Alpha, I said no more! We shall defeat one enemy at a time. We shall strike on the RedClaw pack for daring to kidnap one of our own.” Growls. I raised my voice, letting my rage shimmer. “No more hiding. No more silence. No more waiting. And no more pleading.” I felt my eyes burn crimson, watching the warriors hail, each rising higher with every word I said. “We are the FireHeart Pack— born of ash, reborn in fire, and we do not bow!” The wind picked up, carrying my words over the lands. I saw mother giving a nod of approval, and this seemed to enlighten me
