The captain from the rescue center came looking for Cyrus Selden just as someone shook me awake from sleep. "Lucas! Trouble! Your brother Aidan's submarine, the Abyss Explorer, has lost contact at 35,000 feet in the Mariana Trench! There was an unidentified undersea quake—communication's completely down, and their chances of survival are… slim!" I blinked the sleep from my eyes and looked at him dully. "So?" I asked, my tone flat.

“Croissants. From the place that pretends they’re from Paris.” “Bless you,” I muttered, taking one. Lila perched on the arm of the couch, crossing one leg over the other. “So… I woke up to your face all over my feed again. It’s giving ‘star-crossed scandal sequel.’” I groaned. “Please don’t start.” She grinned. “Relax. I’m not judging. I’m just saying — the man looked like a walking heartbreak out there. You could feel the tension through the photos.”

One corner was burned, but I could still see my face. “Wendy,” he said to the photo, his words slurred. “I think… I saw you today… by the sea… wearing a white dress…” I stood beside him and reached out, wanting to touch his hair. However, my hand passed straight through. “I’m sorry…” he kept saying. “I’m sorry… I should have believed you… I should have protected you… I should have…” He broke down crying, like a child, curling up in the chair and hugging the frame.

Humans are so fragile… In front of me her pack is starring wide-eyed. Their leader’s mouth is even gaped, as if he is unsure of what to do. I feel the weight leave my back and my ears pick up a thump next to me. She scampers to a tree, hitting her head against the rough bark. I turn towards her, giving her a warning snarl to not move. She stars at me wide eyes, her eyes becoming glassy. I kept my eyes locked on hers, they capturing me in. Damn, those eyes are beautiful. Bright and full of life. They were the colour of the sea when the sun touches it just right. Or the sky in midday… just, they were the perfect blue.

I see Ocean's eyes turn black when I say that Desert is a bit bruised so I quickly hurry on, "She said all she can see from the room she is locked in is an apple tree" Ocean and Acre look at each other and smile "Uncle Antony's house," they both say together. It was a white wine, not heavy, but I gulped it down like I was dying of thirst. Leaning back in my seat, I mindlessly watched the movie. The meet-cute was fast approaching as the actress opened up her bakery. I wanted to yell at her to flip the sign closed, that nothing good would happen for her with falling in love.

So, this time next year, I'll be seeing you from a different beach." She looked at the sea one last time before turning around. What she saw sent chills down her back. Even through her cap, she could see a figure coming down from the yacht. It was Wyatt! She instinctively turned around. At the exact moment, Wyatt, who was coming down from the yacht, stopped in his tracks. He had an odd feeling which made him look up to see someone turning around.

Or maybe… saying goodbye. Then, with a whisper, it sealed shut behind us. I breathed out steady, something in my chest seemed to break a little. The waters were moody. Gray, brooding and sickness inducing. Waves rose like claws and curled back with low, guttural growls that sounded too alive. The sky remained overcast.

I was hoping my then, Alpha Abbadon would have changed his mind and see reason to be my mate. "I have thought about that too and I have a solution. We can't swim across it, the waves are too strong and the distance is too great. We won't make it to the end without drowning".
