Alice Hoffman Practical Magic Book Set Novels & Stories

Garrett The clearing is exactly as I remembered from my scouting trip yesterday. Secluded, peaceful, with a small stream running along one edge. I've set up blankets, cushions, and most importantly—a stack of books. Iris stops when she sees it, hand flying to her mouth. "You did all this?" Her voice is soft with wonder. "I wanted it to be special." I guide her to the blankets. "And I found something I thought you'd like." I hand her the top book. It's old, leather-bound, with gilt lettering. "Advanced Theories in Shield Construction and Consciousness-Based Magical Architecture."

’ She flipped through the pages and thought it would be awesome if the information was in alphabetical order. The book was ancient, copied down for many generations, and there was no rhyme or reason to its order. It was as if the information was written at the time of discovery. ‘It’s a book, just find it.’ Bree scoffed, thinking he should be with her looking for the cure if he really wanted it that badly. The book glowed slightly as Bree felt warmth through her fingers. ‘No shit.’ ‘What? Did you find it?’ ‘No, not yet. The book just alphabetized itself.’ Bree looked at her fingers. ‘Wow, I have magic in me.’

The silvery strands of her hair were falling out of the bun she had it in, and more than once her fingers grazed the amulets around her neck. “I’ll be alright, dear. You have plenty to worry about without adding this old witch to the list.” A few of the shadows faded from her eyes, replaced with a comforting smile that appeared to be genuine. Without another word regarding her flustered appearance, she slammed the lid of the trunk shut and gestured to the stack of books sitting at the foot of the four-postered bed. “Today you’re going to try your hand at some actual magic.” “Are you sure—” I began to ask, but a loud crash sounded from downstairs.

I nodded, squaring my shoulders. The magic came as called, doing more to wake me up than standing had. It filled me with energy, like caffeine would, only magic created this strange tingle that would spread beneath your skin. I was focused on the first book, a slim leather-bound book the color of blood, when Apollo broke my concentration. “There’s something else I want you to do. Listen to what I’m saying but focus on the task at hand. Got it?”

She was holding a thick notebook with a cowhide cover in her left hand, and a paint brush in the other -- the broken magic weapon that Winnie gave her, the one with exactly one protection spell left. Well, should I say, supposedly, broken magic weapon. Knock, knock knock. Someone was at the door. Kitty jumped up from the bed and went to the door with the brush in her hand, leaving the notebook behind. The notebook had an ancient look. The edge of some of its pages were even in curl. But while it looked dusty, it was not fragile. It was quite the contrary: it was as if it was JUST right, by itself. No surrounding was going to effect, or add to, or diminish it in anyway. As if it was in its ow

It would have been nice if there had been a book titled Forbidden Magic of the Old Gods, but unfortunatley there wasn’t. The closest we came is the two books that are titled Forbidden Magic of the Gods. Among those two books we also kept the book titled Forbidden Magic of the Fae, with Eve being Fae we thought it might have answers to the magic she uses. The remaining two books are just titled Forbidden Magic with different time periods listed on the bottom. It is possible that these two books have a collection of forbidden magics written in it that could include the mind control one we are looking for. We sit in silence for over an hour, flipping through the pages of our chosen books quickl

"Bring me a book I can read on how to practice magic." The room groaned and creaked as if unwilling to comply. The floor shook and knocked the occupants to the ground. "That was not me," Cafer said as he stood and brushed off his clothing. They both looked at the pedestal and at a black book now there. Hefting the book with both hands, Alaron took the book to the low wooden table and opened it. He turned the pages slowly. "What should we try?" he asked his mentor.

“I thought it might be a good place to write the spells and everything down? You can use a spell to hide them so that only those you allow to see it can see the spells.” Willow takes the book curiously. It already looks old but in more of a cool, antique way than a dusty attic way. Maybe this will help? Since that day she unlocked everything her mind has been overwhelmed with the amount of information she’s been told: spells, magic, potions, and everything else at that. Maybe writing them down will free her mind slightly?

I ordered as I backed up and looked at him. He had to do it perfect. Within seconds he had the magic coming out of the book. I watched as Black-ish blue light flowed into his hand. I had never seen dark magic used from this book so I had to remind myself I needed to concentrate and keep us connected. I just had to pray that our soul bond didn't mend itself because of this.

Now it was time to finally dig into Dominic’s book of magic. She sat back down on the bed beside Rave and picked up the book. Resting it on her lap, she opened it and began thumbing carefully through the pages. The first spell was the plant growth one, so she moved past it. The second was the air shield, a very difficult spell she had tried unsuccessfully a few times with Dominic.
