Kira’s POV Miranda stepped out of the shadows like she owned the night, heels clicking on the cracked concrete, phone still in her hand, that smug little smirk plastered on her face. The same face I’d seen laughing while I fell off that rooftop. The same voice that had ordered those kidnappers to “have fun with the little bitch before you dump her.” She thought I was still tied up somewhere, screaming, waiting to be broken. She had no fucking clue the tables had just flipped so hard they’d broken.

They continued walking till they came near the boarder of the Earth Kingdom, “So you live in the Earth Kingdom?” “Yes” “Why were you then here in the Air Kingdom?” “I didn’t realize how far I had walked, I was so consumed by my own thoughts” Winstrain placed a hand on Miranda’s shoulder, she pulled away. This action hurt Winstrain; he didn’t push further, they sat on two boulders and then Miranda started to speak. “I’m sorry I pulled away from you like that. It’s just the past few months of my life have been traumatic and last night was the final straw. It made me realize that I need to be a stronger woman”

Miranda paced back and forth in the dimly lit room, her heart racing as she tried to keep her tears from falling. The weight of her decision was suffocating, and her chest tightened with every step she took. She glanced at Erick, her oldest and closest confidant, hoping he might have some way to ease the unbearable pain in her heart. But his face was set, his eyes focused. "You know what will happen!" Miranda snapped, her voice breaking under the pressure. "I already told you that! This isn’t just some story or legend. It’s real, Erick."

George replied smoothly. Elaine released her lips into a soft smile. She hummed out a soft 'Mmh' and gave a short chuckle then she walked away without another word. # By the late evening, Miranda was dressed in her uniform and ready to go. She applied two strokes of mascara to her eyelashes, and a swipe of her favorite shade of red lipstick. She spritz on her perfume just in time for her aunt to knock on the door and remind her that it was time to go. Grabbing her phone, keys, and small backpack, Miranda exited the shed and was once again met with Aunt May, who greeted her with a bottle of water and a small bowl filled with fruit.

CHAPTER ONE MIRANDA'S POV My heart pounded like a drum as I approached the colossal AD company's building, my hands trembling with fear. The Owner's notorious reputation for being merciless made my blood run cold, and I knew that confronting him would be a test of my bravery. Taking a deep breath, I shut my eyes and uttered a desperate plea, praying for a miracle. But as I stepped into the opulent hallway, my hope began to evaporate. The atmosphere was thick with apprehension, and I could sense a thousand pairs of eyes on me, each one more menacing than the last.

Saw seventy years of buried truth spreading across Miranda’s desk. The hours crawled by like wounded animals. Afternoon became evening. Evening darkened toward night. Still no word from Miranda. Then, near midnight, a knock on my door. I opened it to find Miranda herself standing there. She looked like she hadn’t slept either—her eyes were red-rimmed, and her formal attire was rumpled. But she held Eugene’s journal like it was sacred text. “I read everything,” she said without preamble. “Every journal. Every document. Every calculation.”

I felt sorry for the bread. "It couldn't be the urge to kick your little friends' asses, or to kill and dismember, scattering every little piece of the bimbo trying to take what's mine. No. It couldn't be that." Rolling her eyes, Miranda looked at me and whispered. "Don't mind her." I sat in the chair under Andreia's eagle eyes as she chewed the leftover bread, possibly imagining they were my body parts. The ones she had torn to pieces. "I brought what you asked for," Miranda said, sliding an envelope over.

Adrian Westwood?” “Yes.” “How?” she said it simply and directly, her eyes fixed on me, “How did Mira, our Mira, end up with Adrian Westwood? She left here and went straight to him? How does that even happen?” I reached over and pulled up the news article on my phone and held it out to her. She took it and stared at the screen for a long moment, the picture of Mira in a wedding dress beside Adrian. “How,” Julie said again, quieter this time, more to herself than to me.

“Wow! Mommy, look at the fireworks over there!” Miranda smiled, cheek to cheek with Mia. “They’re beautiful.” By ten that night, Mia was fast asleep. Miranda slipped into a soft robe and sat on the couch with a medical journal in hand. Her phone buzzed. “Is Mia asleep?” The message was from Felix. Miranda glanced at the screen, ignored it, and placed the phone face down on the table. Outside, fireworks painted the night sky in bursts of color, their glow flickering across her calm, distant face.
