I could feel it, a sudden numbness and my vision was covered by a blanket of darkness as I thought I'd lost consciousness. When my eyes opened again, my senses were all dulled. I couldn't see properly and I couldn't pick up any sound, I felt like I'd lost touch with reality. My body still felt weak but a sudden cold enveloped me like my blood was freezing over. I couldn't seem to breathe properly as well, my heart beat rapidly. I couldn't tell what it was but there was a quiet sound, a little static at first as I heard a ringing in my ear. But gradually, I started to hear it clearly and recognize the sound.

My eyes grew wide in shock. “Oh my god! I don’t know the answer, Sir!” I said immediately because I thought he was calling me. I can’t help but to freak out. I just stop ranting stupidly when I noticed something. I didn’t hear my voice. Have I possibly became a mute now? Why can’t I make any sound? The guy turned to where I am. I gasped, but as strange as it may seem, I heard no sound again. Have I also gone deaf? But no, I can hear these people in front of me talking. Why can’t I hear my own voice?

He’s looking down at me with an expression I just can’t understand and his scent… I still can’t smell it… actually, I can’t smell anything. I try to listen for any distinctive sounds, but I can’t hear anything, not even his heartbeat. As panic begins to set in, I can, however, hear my heartbeat thudding in my ears. The room we’re in sounds strange like it’s loud and muffled at the same time and it’s hurting my ears.

My head begins to ring, my ears go deaf to the sounds around me, and the only thing I hear is the ringing sound echoing inside my head as my vision begins to blur. I see myself drawing closer to the floor, my head clashing with the floor as I stare completely unable to move. A pair of legs walk before me. It's getting darker and colder. I need… to… stay awake but… I can't! Is this how I die?!

All I could hear are the mixed voices of people around me, the sound of the stereo echoing, and laughter after laughter. “Sam…” I called but my voice was too weak to even create a sound…and the last thing I know, I passed out.

"Yeah, me too. It's just hard not knowing what's going to happen." As they sat there, the TV nearby caught their attention. The news was playing, but their minds were still consumed by their worries for Samuel. "You know," Whizz began, "I heard that sometimes patients in comas can hear what's going on around them. Even if they can't respond." Liya looked at her friend, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Really? You think that's true?" Whizz shrugged, a small smile forming. "Well, they say that hearing familiar voices and sounds might have an impact on them. It's worth a shot."
