I heard Jasmine shout in panic, followed by sounds of running feet. The world around me became a blur, their voices muted, my head was buzzing with an unwanted sound, and my vision went dark. Rivulets of sweat rolled down my face, and I held my shaky hands together, trying to regain sanity. People seemed to be talking around me, but I couldn't hear them. My brain couldn't process anything, I was just numb, unable to tell how I felt or what was going on. A shrill scream woke me up. “Princess!!!!!”

Instead, she pressed her thumb and forefinger to the bridge of her nose, as if trying to squeeze the feeling out of her head. “I could hear everything,” she said, voice barely above a whisper. “The whole time. I heard you talking. I heard you shout, I heard you—” Her eyes flicked to me, then back to the water. “I heard them moving my body.” I wanted to say it was impossible, but I knew it wasn’t. I’d read articles about coma patients, about the locked-in syndrome where the person is fully aware but can’t move or speak or do anything except listen. The thought of it made my skin itch.

I think to myself. Is this the afterlife? Nothing but a paralyzing and endless black void? My head begins to spin as I raise my head. My ears are ringing from the impact, making it difficult to get my bearings. No one has a bomb strapped to them and survives. So where am I? I wonder. I lie back down, closing my eyes as the pounding in my head increases. I don't know how long I've been lying there when I hear a faint noise in the distance. I can't distinguish the sound, instead choosing to lie back down in hopes that the pain in my head will vanish.

Shit—I don’t even remember. 'Damn it! I think I’m getting old.' Peter tried to clear his mind, but then— He heard sobbing. Faint voices. Muffled words. He couldn’t understand what they were saying, but something about them felt… wrong. He tried to lift a hand to his temple, but— Nothing. His arms wouldn’t move. It was like they were glued to the water around him. 'What the fuck? What the hell is happening?!' Panic surged through him as he struggled to sit up, but his body refused to obey.

After hearing that I stood there not being able to breathe. My feet took steps back and I stopped when the wall hit my back. I couldn't think of anything and I stood there being numb. I didn't hear anything after that cause maybe I went all deaf. After some time something hit me and I came back to my senses. I couldn't make any decisions instantly.

They are both in a panic. I screamed when the pain in my head was so intense that I almost forgot how to breathe. I can't even hear my voice. Suddenly my vision went dark but I didn't lose consciousness. It was like everything went off. I can't see anything so I can feel the pain more. I still know that I am standing on the ground, but it seems like I got blinded for some reason. I was crying in pain but I couldn't hear any sound. But in the middle of the pain I'm feeling now, suddenly something seems to ring. That's so weak I don't know what to say. But as the pain worsened, that sound became clearer.

I can feel hands on my body. I think they are checking for a pulse? Or maybe just trying to get me to respond... but I'm too fucking tired... I wonder if I'm in shock. "Miss, are you okay?" I can hear a mumbled voice. I hear the urgency. They want me to respond. I try to answer but all that comes out is a grunt. "Let's get her strapped in," someone else says. There are multiple voices shouting orders... and I can't focus on a damn one... I'm just... too...

His ears rang like a bell and his head was pounding like someone had installed an automatic drum. He couldn't see any more than a few inches in front of him before it all became blurry. His brain felt like it was porridge. He couldn't register what was happening around him. His vision slowly returned to him and he finally got a chance to look around the room. He was still in his meditative state. He saw at Megan kneeling before him with a frightened yet worried look in her eyes. She was calling out to him, but he couldn't hear a word she was saying.

My head is pounding. I am not sure why I am laying on the ground but it feels like I got hit by a car. What exactly happened to me? As I slowly force my eyes open, I can see Dante leaning over me looking worried. I can see his lips moving but cannot make out what he is trying to say. I am sure that he is talking but I cannot seem to hear anything he says past the ringing in my ears. I let out a small groan as I try to sit up.

Dim and faint voices muffled against the background, but as soon as I heard pieces of conversations, I quickly drifted back into sleep. PERHAPS IT was minutes, hours, or even days. But I couldn't quite comprehend the time and my surroundings. I haven't fully regained consciousness and I could realize that by the way that I was met with nothing. I couldn't open my eyes even if I wanted to. Moving my limbs and fingers proved to be futile as well. The agitation and straining discussions were my background noises although I was still unconscious at this point.
