This magic is basic and used by almost all witches in CAA. Witches like Maria, Silva, Butt and all used this magic almost all the time. Apart from the last moment of the book, Maria was required to chant a spell to end Hades will hell fire by setting the gates of hell loose through herself as a channel. Butt as well was required to make a protection spell when Hades darkness rained and was about to hit them. This occurred in the last chapter of Chaos And Apocalypse, Chapter 39. Chanting

"That means he holds a secret he cannot allow anyone to discover. And whatever that secret is, Hailey and Keegan must have stumbled onto it." A sharp light flashed in his eyes. He struck the desk with his palm. "What is the greatest secret in the apocalypse? Resources." He leaned forward. "The massive shipment missing from Volmart… It's in his hands. And he is hiding it with some kind of spatial ability!"

He knows nothing about his attacks and spells. “Ungodly Rain.” Blood began to fall from the sky in their area which was in fact fatal acid, melting anything coming in this way.

(Apollo) Across the war table, the battlefield erupted in violent distortion. Infernal light bent and tore as a column of impossible force speared downward through the Marches like the descending blade of a fallen star. The beam struck with such magnitude that even the magic struggled to hold it. For a fraction of a second, the entire projection flared white, overwhelmed by the violence of the discharge.
