"Cameron Stuart! Just how much more trouble are you trying to cause me!" Natalie Parker's shrill voice rang in my ears, jolting me awake. The moment I opened my eyes, I saw her raising a bottle of sulfuric acid to splash it on me. Recalling the unbearable agony that overwhelmed me in my previous life, I instinctively reached out to grab the bottle. Still, some of the liquid splashed out anyway, dripping onto my body. I gasped in pain. After exhaling deeply, I clenched my jaw and caught Natalie by the wrist. "Are you mad? You can kill someone if you throw an entire bottle of sulfuric acid at them! Don't you know that?"

Some doors still hung open. Others had blood smeared across them. No military. No police. No rescue convoys. Only silence, which was broken occasionally by distant sirens echoing through the valley below. The apocalypse had moved beyond panic. Now came the collapse. Evelyn stepped over scattered belongings near the edge of the motel lot while Rowan crouched briefly beside an abandoned SUV. “Tank’s empty,” he muttered. Of course it was. Fuel had already become survival. The electronic tone rang softly through Evelyn’s skull.

During the dark ages, there was talk of supernatural creatures that went bump in the night and no one would ever believe the rumors. They would say that it was religious fanatics spitting out dogma forcing men and women to convert to their religion by scaring them with tales of monsters. Others claimed that it was impossible that none of this was real, that their simply no way that monster could be real.

I think some God was listening in to my secret conversation with myself and so… He sent monsters. They came into packs. They came with power. They came with madness swirling in their weird colored eyes. They came as animals, but they had the ability to disguise themselves as humans too. They had only one goal - RULE THE WORLD. And so, they did. After an endless war of five years, they ruled the world. The rule and order of humans was gone – destroyed. The world we once knew as a humane civilization was taken over by those monsters and turned into a world of terror.

Scott asked. “There was another incident near the Vamp Monument. The vampire community was out for a massive reunion and three fledglings were abducted by a group of Apopis– the worshippers of the Apep serpent. Having gained a lot of knowledge about manipulating the power of the sun, the Apep serpent has bestowed upon all his followers a gift of manipulating the sun’s energy. Unfortunately, this disabled all the defences of even the oldest of the vampires; you know the sun is lethal for them. The war was lost within minutes when they were blinded, burned temporarily, or incapacitated by the heat. Before they could think of something else, the Apopises had coiled around the fledglings and had

Oh no, not again. "Fuck!" Erix caused, apparently seeing the mist at the same time I did. "Come on!" Alix shouted, jutting me from my frozen state, but didn't budge, I was strangely suddenly calm and filled with the need to move forward instead, just as the swirling mist expanded and suddenly began dropping six feet tall monsters with hoofs and forked tails, along with other monsters I had never seen before. "Shit!" Erix's voice sounded far away.

But I wasn’t about to give up. The ground trembled beneath us. The doorway behind Dominick glowed brighter and brighter until it split the cavern ceiling. A beam of crimson light erupted into the sky, ripping the earth apart. The sound of stone shattering echoed like thunder. Then the creatures came. From the fissures in the ground, from the cracks in the air itself—monsters clawed their way into the world. Hulking beasts with bone armor. Winged abominations dripping black tar. Things that should have never existed outside of nightmares poured into the school grounds.

Some peeked out from their windows and scanned the darkness outside. They were clueless about what was happening, and soon, the sight before them left them utterly shocked. The sky was illuminated by a massive blood-red orb, casting an apocalyptic glow over the entire city. Cracks like spider webs spread across the ground, and shadows began to emerge from the cracks. Accompanied by terrifying roars, these shadows slowly took form, and the people gasped in horror. The shadows solidified into the monster soldiers from bygone eras, with tattered and broken armor hanging off them, their flesh almost fully rotted away.

'Demonic monsters? Ambrose turned his head to her but was smacked with several wooded logs on his chest. She glared at him but then turned her eyes to Laylin. Her familiar bushtit flew in to sit on her shoulder “Yesterday the demonic monsters took over. They have surrounded the Palace, you can't even get in. The Palace might have been infested by these monsters that escaped the Other World.” She stood close to Laylin and pointed her finger at him, “The city is swarming with these monsters, people are dying and we are going to stop the wizard who has done it.”
