Chapter forty four / a new command. Darling Kate’s pov Kazan tightened his grip around me and Astraea, his posture straightening as he stepped out from the shadows of the doorway and onto the top stone steps of the ruined veranda. The morning sun was fully breaking through the fading eclipse now, casting a harsh, bright light over the blood and ash in the courtyard. "Sam," Kazan called out. His voice wasn't a roar, but it carried the deep, resonant vibration of a dominant Alpha that instantly halted every movement in the courtyard.

Aralia's scream was one that brought frost and ice, cold destruction that splintered throughout the room. The fountains in the garden exploded, emitting a sound that rumbled the ground.
