Novel & Cerita Best Young Adult Books Mystery

BELLA The 21-year-old girl from North Carolina, missing for ten months, found dead. Suicide or murder?—the morning headline said. I was tired of hearing Mamma’s sob every time I entered this house. The more I wanted to forget what I had seen, the more I sank. The feeling of guilt seared within me, like a flame that never douted. “I don’t understand why the police are claiming it to be suicide when it isn’t,” Val said, sitting at the edge of the bed. “She goes missing for a year straight. Then, she’s found drowned in a lake.”

"No, maybe dad yes." "We won't ask dad because he won't tell us anything, besides he won't even let us get into the investigation we have to do everything on our own. Wait for me here and I'll go ask one of the guys if they know where she lives," he told me to which I nodded. When Lucas left, I kept looking at some books in the mythology section. A small one, made of leather, which had strange drawings engraved on it, caught my attention. I took it and read the title, it said: What is hidden in Telluride. How strange, I thought. I opened the book and began to read the first page:

I begin preparing parrich in case she’s hungry when a horrendous crashing sound echoes up from the basement. Racing to the floor below, I discover Leslie sprawled on the floor and unconscious beside the stairs in front of the curio cabinet. Next to her hand is a shattered bottle of laudanum and the now broken iron scroll velvet lined box that I kept on the topmost shelf containing a variety of potent elixirs and formulas in. The red liquid of the laudanum deceptively looks like blood. The only way she could have reached the box was by climbing up the curio cabinet. She apparently fell at some point during her snooping around in the cabinet.

I protested to my parents in either skipping the school or transferring to another school but they forced me to be here as this is the only school which is best. I reserved a place in one of the seats available though nobody was there. I kept my bag and went in search of a nice book. I went to the thriller books section and searched for a book, perfect for reading at this moment. ‘The black coffee’ by Agatha Christie, the great author, caught my eyes as I wanted to read this book for a very long time but I didn’t get to.

Bored and restless, I wandered from room to room, searching for something to occupy my mind. In Bella’s room, I spotted a book on her nightstand—Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. I had heard good things about it, so I decided to give it a shot. I curled up on her bed, diving into the pages. For a while, it worked—I was able to lose myself in the story and momentarily forget the unease tugging at me. But, of course, that didn’t last long.

"How would you suspect me when you were all so busy chasing shadows? You were too preoccupied blaming Alexander and Yvonne for the horrific deaths of the witches. Trust me, I enjoyed every bit of the murder." **Flashback...** Anne vividly remembered the day she lured Susan into the restroom with her dark powers. The memory of how she manipulated Susan, leading her to her doom, played out in her mind like a sinister movie. As Susan stepped into the restroom, Anne was waiting, her eyes gleaming with malevolence. Without a moment's hesitation, she struck, killing Susan in cold blood, reveling in the sheer power she wielded.

Back at her desk Detective Sparks was faced with another dilemma. The journal used a pass code instead of a key and she was sure she was about to face the same dilemma as she had with the phone and was still facing there in fact. She sat behind her desk turning the thin volume over and over in her hand while officer Bailey did some follow up calls. They were still trying to pin down the distributor of the dummy clown which she'd been surprised to learn was a more common product than she'd thought.

I didn't notice that I said that out loud until she slapped my arm and frowned. "Nancy Drew will forever be the best mystery book, hands down. It is iconic" "Hmmm ... okay crazy lady. But I just think Hardy boys are much better. Nancy Drew always has one storyline. You can easily predict what is going to happen. There's never anything new." "I see you've read a few of her books," she says crossing her arms. "As long as You've read them, I'm fine with that" she replied smiling. "Your cousin, Suzanne, tell me about her. How'd she end up in a coma?" I glanced at her, she bit down on her lips hard, then looked up at me.
