Black Knife Assassin Sage Cave Novels & Stories

The dark suite says it’s unoccupied. Now I was really curious about the relationship they shared. I took off my coat, placed my helmet and gloves in the closet. Running a hand through my hair and looking one last time in the suite mirror I got out of the room and carefully went out of the private area, this section of the hotel was deserted. The crossing hallway didn’t have cameras so I didn’t have to worry about anyone knowing. It was my first time using the key but I knew it was a shady exit used for underhanded dealings, quite common in Chicago.

He pulled it free with fluid familiarity and aimed it at the aisle just as the second attacker appeared. The sound was deafening. The man dropped. I gasped, hand flying to my mouth. Zane didn’t look back at me — not yet. He strode forward, kicked the weapon away, checked both bodies with ruthless efficiency. Two down. One left. The leader. And he was gone. I crawled to my knees, heartbeat rioting. “Zane—” He turned to me finally — and for the first time since the lights went out, something real flickered across his face.

Julian and Will set up sentry turrets outside while I helped lower Callum onto a cot. “Can you patch him?” I asked, turning to the woman waiting in the shadows. Sage stepped forward, her pale hair tucked behind one ear, eyes like frost. “I’ve handled worse,” she said simply, and began laying out tools. Sage was an old contact. Ex-Cyphernet, burned by Calidus years ago and still quietly at war with them. She didn’t speak much — didn’t trust many people. But when she looked at Callum, something flickered in her expression.

The advanced training had taught me that assassins could cover their scent to nearly undetectable levels, leaving what little could be detected smelling as if the owner was long gone. The sound of twigs snapping to my left caused me to whip around toward the sound. The scent I had detected was thicker in that direction. My ears laid flat against my head as I growled into the darkness, threatening whoever lurked there. A small man charged from between the brush. I howled in pain as he lunged at me, burying a silver dagger in my side.

a Rank 5 Surpasser said to Sage. Hmph! Sage snorted coldly. “I don’t care how strong he is. Whoever offended my Ghost Shadows in this gathering spot of refugees must have a death wish!” “Where is this person currently?” Sage added with a smile. “To reply to your question, he’s currently in Poverty Cove!” the Rank 5 Surpasser answered. Sage heard it and kept quiet for a few seconds. Then, he said to the Rank 5 Surpasser, “You, bring some men over to catch him back here. I want to peel his skin and tear his tendons!”

In one swift movement, he drives it straight into the man's left eye. The rogue screams in agony, a gurgling sound that echoes, and he falls back, clutching his bloody face. the other rogues in the cave suddenly run to his side. “Touch me again and I will stab the other one!” Sage shouts, breathing hard, the rock still clutched in his shaking hands as he cowers to the wall of the cave. “I’ll kill every damn one of you! Come close and you’ll see!” A wave of silence follows before loud laughter erupts from the group of rogues.

I completely forgot I was still naked. “We were fighting off a group of rogues. One came out of nowhere and attacked Tobias. Sage jumped at him, pushing him off Tobias. Before we could get to Sage, the rogue forcibly marked her. He’s dead now. Unfortunately, this mark is permanent, but it already looks infected.” I tell Saph what happened, and she nods, walking over to Sage on the bed. Sage is still not talking, just whimpering, and clutching her neck. Saph gasps and covers her mouth as she looks at Sage’s neck.

Sage grabbed a bottle of water from on of the reporters desk and emptied it on the assassin who jerked up. "So, Mr assassin. Am asking you nicely now. who sent you to murder Olivia?" Sage asked smiling at the criminal in a creepy manner as he paced around him in slow deliberate steps. "I-I-I don't know what you are talking about. let me go this instant!! You have no right to hold me down here" the assassin said. Sage burst into a sarcastic laughter and the guards joined in. "You hear that folks? he said we have no right to hold. him down"

My brother asks as we make our way into the garage’s living area. Years ago, Priest converted an old warehouse in the outskirts of Manhattan to rehab cars. He lived there until he met his wife Sage and lost his best friend, the now-deceased former Confradia tech, Hunter Cohen. Before I came around, Hunter was the Confradia’s prime hacker. Now, I’m one of their top techs. But unlike Hunter, I trained and became an assassin. After Hunter’s death, the garage was used by visiting Confradia Assassins to stay at and for Confradia meetings.

Fennick answered. Sage gave his Beta a side glance and returned it to Fennick. "You mean Authum pack practice the golden skill openly?" he requested and Fennick nodded in agreement. "Too absurd," Sage stated, referring to Rae. "You should know that we had an assassin's attack, did you have any suspects?"
