The pale glow of the moon cast a haunting blue light across the snow as Chloe shivered against the bitter wind. She had no doubt the winter landscape would be a beautiful sight if it weren't for the fact she had been out in the freezing cold for hours. The tense silence around her was broken by the chatter of her own teeth and the rhythmic crunch of boots in the snow as the guards prowled around her and the fourteen other girls currently stood in the snow in nothing more than their underwear.

Baji asked. "I don't know, I think we were attacked. There was these monsters they were like ants … I so cold and couldn't sleep, I was beside the fire warning my self, when I went back to check on everyone, they were asleep and the monsters were dragging them away. They were all DEAD!" He cried out unable to contain his fright. "Hmm" Baji sighed as he stood up and looked at Felix. It was dark and the only source of light was the moon shining brightly, so it was difficult seeing all thier facial expressions but everyone was worried at this point.

My mother held Jenny close and screamed, “Do you know how much Jenny’s suffered all these years because of you?! She’s finally gotten her chance to start a new and hopeful life! Why are you so determined to ruin it for her?!” ‘Starting a new and hopeful life? What about me? Do I have to live as a murderer for the rest of my life instead?’ I asked myself. My parents looked unsure when they met my incredulous gaze, and Jared’s eyes grew red. “Let’s get married after this, Charlie.” Jenny glared at me resentfully, then closed her eyes and ‘fainted’ in my mother’s arms. “Jenny!” Jared whipped his head backward. Hesitation and conflict swirled behind his eyes at the sight of Jenny fainting.

Grateful, even. Instead, I felt… hollow. The food had been perfect—luxurious and comforting all at once. But the seat across from me had stayed empty. Josh hadn’t come back. He hadn’t even called. I still gave Greyson a thankful smile though. "That's not all the bad news," Zander said, pointing to the map. "The rate of spread of the Blight in the north has almost doubled in speed. This whole area was found to have decayed over night, but the sad part is that there was a mother and her two children still in the farm when it happened. We couldn’t save them.” He announced and I felt a stab in my heart at the news. “At this rate, if Dorian doesn’t kill us all, then the blight will definitely wipe us out.” Greyson declared.

"The dead don't need land. Besides, Horton is weak, and your father was a fool. This pack was long overdue for a change in leadership." I struggled to sit up. "What about the Blight? You knew it would kill innocent pack members—" "The Blight?" Marcus laughed. "That, my dear she-wolf, was our masterpiece. A poison designed to cripple the land… and your inconvenient little gift along with it." "What?" "Where do you think the corrupted energy came from?" He pulled out a small black vial. "A special poison, courtesy of Brynn. A few drops can contaminate an entire forest."

It was a map of the Silverfang Citadel—the fortress we thought was impenetrable. There was a red X marked deep beneath the castle. "The Alpha thinks he needs your blood to wake the Hunger," the letter continued. "But he is wrong. He needs your sacrifice. The blue lilies began to flicker. The soft light turned an angry red.

Lyra carried the map. And Jeremiah— She glanced back. Jeremiah was quiet again. Too quiet. They entered the Blightlands by dusk. What once had been a thriving border village lay in ruins — homes collapsed into ash, trees rotting where they stood. A gray mist curled around them, reeking of copper and old flame. Kael crouched by a scorched sigil on the ground. “Blood magic. Recent.”

I ask trying to sound as brave as I can despite my pumping heart. "Stop talking!" He growls crawling closer to me on my bed. "Noooo!!! Please stop!!" I scream out loudly as the blade shines brightly the moment he raises it up ready to stab me. "Noooooooooo!!!" I jolted up immediately my heart thrumming against my chest erratically. My clothes were soaked in sweat and a sheer of sweat forming on my forehead. My eyes cleared up from their blurry state and that was when I noticed that, that was just another one of my nightmares.
