It was not all, the cover was the eyes of werewolves. My brows furrowed in keen interest as well as something I can't name settling within me. Without thinking further, my hand took out the book and the front cover showed the face of werewolves with its eyes glowing in a golden hue. I brushed my fingers on the cover, mesmerized by the image. It was delicately printed and made.

he wiggled his eyebrows at me comically and I laughed, nodding. He grabbed one of the boxes swiftly and handed it to me. It was the biggest one because my tiny hands were barely keeping it in place. He had a lazy, urging smile that I found sexy playing on his lips. I looked away from him and unknotted the ribbons. I pried the cover open and my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as I retrieved the first book. "André!" I whisper-yelled, my voice laced with awe. Being a bibliophile had its perks because as I looked through the four books, with somewhat modern yet vintage covers in mature colours, alongside intricate golden threadings, I knew they were Fantasy books. “I want a cover like this. Not a famous face. But honest emotion.” “Then,” he said, “you’ve already found your direction.” I moved to a row of large shelves filled with modern novels. Most of them had beautiful, eye-catching covers. I picked up a black book with a minimalist design and looked at Liam. “What do you think?” I asked. Liam raised an eyebrow. “I think it’s too dark for your book’s theme.” I chuckled and put the book back. “That’s what I thought.” We moved to another shelf. I picked up a book with a cover of a woman in a white robe staring at the horizon. “This one?”

The book has a black leather cover and on the center of the cover, there is a glass bulging bubble that's filled with some kind of red liquid. Please don't be blood. I bend to pick up the book and stumble back a bit. It's heavy and I lug it into the room kicking the door shut with the back of my heel before moving to sit down on my bed. "Who left you at my door." I run my hand over the cover and I can feel the light layer of dust on it. My hand stops at the glass bubble and I avoid touching that part.

But when she pulled it free, her breath stopped. The book was unlike anything she had ever seen. Its cover was bound in leather so dark it seemed almost black, though in the right light it shimmered faintly with hues of deep crimson. Strange symbols—curved, jagged, and foreign—were etched into its surface, pressed deep into the hide like scars. No title marked its spine. A lock, thin and ancient-looking, sealed its pages.

Grinning at the child like boy zooming past the shelves, he shook his head before running to catch up. Skimming his eyes past the books, a small, blue one caught his eyes. It was hardback, with a fabric, satiny cerulean cover, small enough to fit in his palm. The title was simple, yet alluring, gracing the cover with an elegant font. "Hey, Rin. What do you think of this one?" Uriel waved the book in the air, watching as Erin lightly jogged over. Reaching his friend, he observed the book, face wavering with different emotions as he analysed it. "Well? What are your thoughts?"

Not sure exactly what I was looking for but I figured I’d know it when I see it. After walking back and forth down a couple isles, I turned the corner to go down a third row of shelves when something caught my eye. I walked straight to this book that was pulled out further than the rest. I tried to blow some of the dust off and all that managed to do was send me into a sneezing fit. I pulled the book out and looked at the cover. I could tell was that it was an old book; it looked like it could crumple to a million pieces at any time. I wiped some of the dust off the front cover but there was nothing on it. No title or author or picture; nothing.

“But someone online recommended a dark romance book and I really want to check it out.” My eyes scanned the shelves, my gaze snagging on a particularly striking cover. It was dark, almost black, with the title splashed across it in stark blood-red letters. “Dark Temptation,” I read aloud, picking up the book. “Is this it?” Pauline leaned in, narrowing her gaze at the cover. “Huh. I’ve seen that one online. It’s pretty popular, actually.” She paused, then shook her head. “But no. I couldn’t read that.”

I stretch up on my toes and pull it out, and seconds later I succeeded like I always do when I put my mind on things. Sending a cloud of dust motes swirling into the air while allowing it for a moment to escape from the shelf, I blew the dust from the cover. There were no words printed on the front or spine, just a simple black leather binding cracking with age, and strange symbol I do not recognize.
