The Bad Gentleman
I don’t stop running until I’m in my room, door locked, with my tote somewhere on the floor as the entire thing replays in my mind.
“He’s a monster,” I tell no one in particular, trying to make sense of what just happened. He’d just cut off a man’s nipple and laughed like it didn’t mean anything to him. What kind of demon does that? The sight of blood did not even repulse him, if anything he seemed to relish in it.
Bile rises out to my throat, and I scramble into the bathroom, retching into the toilet seat, but nothing other than a bout of mucus comes out.
