I pulled it out and saw it was a book on shadow wraiths. Intrigued, I carried it back to the table. It was already getting dark outside, so I lit a candle, the small flame flickering in the drafty room. There was a large mirror directly opposite me on the wall, and it reflected the light in a way that kept catching the corner of my eye. I found it annoying because I was just getting to an interesting part of the book, but the glare wouldn't stop. I tried to ignore it, focusing on the text about spirits that could mimic human forms.

Her insides twisted looking at the sight but she wasn't able to see the face of the invader properly due to the dim lighting of the cabin. Her eyes widened in fear yet she gutted back to step ahead towards the invader in order to start fighting off.

I kept walking toward the back wall then I saw something strange. A soft golden glow appeared between two massive bookshelves I walked past a thousand times. It was a hidden section. The books here looked ancient, their leather spines shimmering faintly. Titles like The Touch of Shadows, Bound by Moonlight, and Whispers After Dark seemed to pulse with their own light. My fingers trembled as I reached out and pulled one book from the shelf. It felt warm, almost alive. I was so curious to see so I opened it slowly.

I pulled Fifty Shades of Grey first (cliché, yes, but I needed an entry point), then The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice, Story of O, a slim volume called The New Topping Book just to balance it out, and two anthologies with titles like Bound Hearts and Surrender to Me. The stack felt heavy in my arms, like contraband. I carried them to the my corner and hid them under the table. I sat down, and opened the first book.
