It was a small smile, but genuine. As they ate together, Maya found herself watching him. His manner was relaxed, even playful. He cracked a joke, and for a split second, she laughed before catching herself. She asked if he wasn’t supposed to be at work. “I’m on a break,” he said with a shrug. “Sometimes I take time off when I want to.”

They ate breakfast together, throwing jokes on the side. "How does a frog feel with a broken foot?" Sean asked with a smirk. "What?" Keith asked. "Unhoppy. Bhahahah!" Sean burst into a set of laughter. Evan himself felt his stomach in pain from laughing again. Keith was the same. "Now, that's funny!" Wendell said to Sean.

Vincent pov I laugh so hard my eyes water. I haven't heard anything so ridiculous and stupid in a long time. The last time someone made me laugh like that was in high school. But the look on my Beta's face can only mean how serious his question was. I wipe away my tears and straighten my posture. Like a kid trying to look serious, I clear my throat a few times before speaking up. "That was a great joke, my friend, but warn me next time before you try to say something so absurd. One of these days, I might choke on a piece of food and die. Do you want it?" I raise an eyebrow at him.

I asked, offended by his remarks. “No, no, of course not,” he responded. I sighed in relief. “You’re more like a broken clock type of funny.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked. “You’re only funny twice a month,” he laughed as his punch line hit. “You know what else is funny? You sleeping outside tonight because there’s no one to let you in.” I said, jabbing at the fact that he would be standing outside because I was not around. “I have a spare key, Einstein, and hotels?” He responded, laughing at my failed attempt to get him back.

I giggled and rushed towards the Fridge taking out the food we needed to cook. It was just like the old times, Aiden cooked for the two of us, it made me realize Aiden was more of a brother to me. I hope he realised it too. ^° It is the most unbearable time in summer, especially with the sun blazing above your head and sweat trickling down your face, armpits and thigh. Hours passed before things finally slowed down. Jordy wiped the counter, exhaling. His manager walked over. “Take your break.” “Thanks,” Jordy said. He headed to the back and dropped into a chair in the small break room. “Finally,” he muttered. He pulled out his phone and opened social media.

Cisco muttered. "You prude. How dare you talk to me like that, I can take a break whenever I want to." Duncan said, pretending to be angry. "You can't take breaks whenever you want Duncan, the highest I can give you is four days. After that, I want you back at work." I concluded. "What about me? Do I get a break too?" Caden asked, looking at me for answers. "Hell no Caden, maybe next year I will consider granting you one." I replied.

He replied Did he think that I'm talking about some snacks for something? " You can't talk to me during your work hours but make time for me outside it.
