I say a silent prayer to the mood goddess that she wakes up. All of the sudden her heart monitor starts beeping rapidly and the doctor comes running in. And I grab her hand and the beeping calms. Shirley’s POV Morning comes far too quickly. My alarm buzzes faintly from my stand, and my body feels like it has been weighed down by bricks. Every muscle aches from last night’s dancing, and my eyes sting from the barely two hours of sleep I managed. I drag myself out of bed slowly, wishing I could crawl back under the blanket and replay the memories of Ivan guiding me across the dance floor. His smile and his warmth, it had felt like a dream.
