On a couch near the fireplace sat a very old wolf in human form, his thin glasses perched neatly on his nose as he read a stack of papers.
“Maddox!” Damien’s deep voice broke the silence with a smile on his face. His arms spread wide like he was about to hug the old man.
The old man rose slowly, but in a heartbeat, his form blurred and shifted. Bones cracked, fur sprouted, and before me stood a massive wolf, his silver-streaked coat bristling with age and power.
Damien’s lips curled into a smirk as he too shifted, his Lycan form towering and regal. He looked magnificent—so magnificent that I forgot to breathe for a moment.
