He scooted over, making room for Jake on the floor. “I’m the truck driver,” Kyle declared proudly, holding up a bright yellow dump truck. “You can be the police car. We need to catch the bad guys!” Jake knelt down, sitting cross legged beside him, picking up a police car that had been left abandoned on the edge of the play area. “Alright, partner. Let’s go catch those bad guys.”

I stated and smiled again at the choking cough that came from Jake. “Well all right then.” Porter laughed through the com's. “You're single right West?” He asked and Wheelers laughing voice interrupted what ever else he may have said. “God you're unbelievable. West, word to the wise stay away from Porter.” “Damn Wheeler why you got to spoil all my fun? I was only asking.” “Sure you were.” I chuckled slightly shaking my head. “Ignore Porter.” Jakes voice sounded quiet in the car, he must have switched off his walkie as it didn't echo over the channel. “He can be an ass at times but he's a good guy.”

The cool, detached logic he had always prided himself on shattered into dust in an instant. Jake pulled another copy from his drawer and threw it right at Chad's face. It was Lucy's waiver. The dark red thumbprint on it had already dried into a rusty brown. "Chad, do you even know what this is? She was already slipping into deep shock, too weak to even hold a pen, when you grabbed her hand and forced her to sign this. You used a dying woman's hand to absolve her killer. Are you even human?" A choked, strangled wail tore from Chad's throat. He scrambled up from the floor, stumbling as he bolted out the door.
