For an old man staring down death, its allure was irresistible. “I’ll show you.” Caitlin opened the book to a middle page. Yellow powder spilled across the parchment, wriggling with something alive.

Lilith POV The few hours I have spent with Atlas, I finally realized why he needs so much protection. Although he's a rich and handsome gentleman, he's a bit wet behind the ears and a poor, innocent creature that is going to get murder for his ignorance. There was a second knock on the door, and I glanced down at Atlas before swaying my attention toward it. “You are being pretty dramatic. Just go open the door or I will.” He mumbled with a hint of impatience in his tone.

(RHEA’S POV - IN ATLAS'S BODY) The banquet hall was a sea of glittering chandeliers and soft murmurs. It was a complete contrast to the chaotic bloodshed, screams of terror, and the scenes of the Glorywayne’s maids and servants hunts from my past life. Atlas extended his homemade cocktail towards me. I took the glass, my hand trembling as I felt its cold surface. “Hey,” Atlas said, still standing and half-leaning towards me. He gave my hand a firm grasp. Atlas replied, gazing at the desk one more time. "She will be back soon." Suddenly as Rhodes voiced so, Atlas narrowed his brows and looked at the door. "So she came to work today?" "Do you want to ask her something?" "No." Atlas as if never wanted to stop disliking her, every time he saw her his disliking towards her character became intense though he didn't know why he felt like that. "Anyway, I have seperated the needed documents, here is it." As he turned to leave, Rhodes coughed and asked, " Do you know this guy?"

Daniel The rain fell in fine droplets, beating against the windows of my apartment. I struggled to focus on the stack of files sprawled before me. Each page I flipped through seemed blurry, and my thoughts kept drifting back to Claire. This time, I felt trapped in a snare I couldn’t defuse. My head buzzed with questions, doubts, and desires I wasn’t ready to confront.

I moan, leaning into the toilet seat. “You can’t die.” Atlas says, holding my hair back as we sprawl across the toilet floor. He’s leaning his head on the wall and his eyes were closed the last time I looked at him. “I am.” “No.” “Everybody dies.” “When they’re old and boring. You’re neither.” “I will be one day.” “You’ll never be boring.” I snort. “That’s just your biased opinion.” “No, that’s a fact. It’s just who you are. One big mystery. Mysteries are never boring.”

“I think you solved the problem before they finished feeling it.” “That sounds inefficient.” “It probably is.” She looked genuinely offended by the idea. Oliver laughed quietly. “You really are Mom’s daughter.” They reached the residential wing just as the sun dipped lower behind the mountains. Warm light glowed through the windows. Inside, the house smelled like coffee and bread. Atlas sat cross-legged on the living room floor surrounded by books twice her size. At seven, she somehow managed to look both tiny and deeply unimpressed with the world at the same time.

He ran his hand over the embossed letters. "Texture," Cale whispered. "Raised font. Matte finish." "Do you like it?" Elion asked, his voice trembling. "It is... substantial," Cale said. "It has weight." He opened the cover. He flipped to the dedication page. "Read it," Elion said. "I want to hear you say it." Cale cleared his throat. He adjusted his reading glasses. "To Atlas," Cale read. "Who put down the sky so he could hold my hand."

I was sitting in silk sheets eating while Marcus was rotting and Theo was losing his mind in a hotel room. My phone buzzed on the mattress. I didn't have to look to know it was Theo. I didn't touch it. "I have to travel this morning," Atlas said, checking his watch. "Important work, even for a Saturday. I’ll be back before you know it." He leaned in close, his shadow falling over me. He didn't go for my mouth. He whispered right against my ear, his breath hot enough to make my skin crawl in the best way. "Stay home and rest. I want you recovered by the time I get back." He nipped my ear hard. "Because the second I walk through that door, I’m going to unravel you all over again."

"I do. Atlas is a lot of things—arrogant, ruthless, vindictive but he has a weird sense of pride. If he realizes the game is broken, he'd rather flip the board over himself than let someone else win by default." We fell into a comfortable silence, the rhythmic hum of the Zamboni filling the empty space between us. For the first time since he had transferred into my Literature class, there were no spies watching us. There was no Charlotte waiting with a camera, no Atlas looming in the shadows, no Dean Vance threatening my future. It was just us
