Rowan darted through the crowd at ankle height, a blur of bare feet and slightly pointy ears.
At four, they were all momentum and questions.
“Mama, look!” they yelled, nearly crashing into me as they skidded to a stop. “Naomi made a game where you throw bags at wood and get points!”
“Cornhole,” Naomi called. “It’s called cornhole.”
“That’s a stupid name,” Rowan said gravely.
“You’re not wrong,” Cassian muttered, adjusting the target board. “Aim for the hole, little wolf. Not my face.”
