Hunter climbed off the couch and stood, grabbing his briefs that were tangled with his trousers before pulling them back on. The phone was still ringing. He glanced around the living room until he finally spotted it lying half out of his discarded pants pocket. It must have slipped out sometime during the night. The screen continued flashing. Hunter picked it up, expecting to silence an alarm. Instead, he frowned. It wasn't an alarm. It was a call. Dean Mercer flashed his phone screen, and Hunter groaned. Dean was the Titans' superstar winger. The boys often called him the Legendary Ladies' Man or the Wolf Who Hunted Prey.

I had heard his excuses and explanations before, but I still wasn’t buying it. Skeptically, as I hurriedly walk, chasing the light down a long-rounded passage, I ask “I find it hard to believe you, of all people, would risk your life for this quest.” “Believe it or not Hunter, I’m here. I didn’t do this for my own gain.” I scoff at his words. Everything Oliver did was for self-gain. “Scoff all you want; I may be rogue and hated Hunter, but those changelings will follow the Lycan witch without question and they are the best damn trackers I have ever come across. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age, and I can’t refuse the plea of a little Skinwalker.”

He had tanned skin and tone muscles. At first glance, he look like a farmer who work on the fields by the countryside. But the man was, in fact, a powerful figure. He was a mercenary leader who carried out activities in several countries of Asia all year long, his group was known as Wolf Hunter, and his name was Rocky.

But it wasn’t the horse that caused her pulse to race into overdrive. It was the sight of the cowboy beside the steed. In this neck of the woods, if his Stetson wasn’t enough to give him away as one of the Grey Wolf cowboys, the earthy scent that drifted on the winter breeze was. She recognized him instantly as one of her kind. He smelled of pine, dark spices, and clove, a warm and welcome scent that was far too pleasant for her liking. But if he was a guard, he hadn’t served on her cellblock. She would have remembered, because whoever he was, he smelled divine.

He unlocked the gun case and gestured inside. “Pick. Ladies first, gentlemen.” A shiver ran down my spine as his husky voice washed over me. I grabbed a rifle, not even caring which one it was in my hurry to get away from the tantalizing scent the man wore. I deposited my bag inside of the gun safe and walked out of the hall. I was determined to put as much distance between me and them as I could. We normally hunted in groups, but my father had taught me well enough that I could take down a deer by myself. Getting it back to town, on the other hand, would require the men. Fuck.

After tying the calf paws the cowboy has to mount the animal and raise his hands to stop the time. Kayden is the next one in the dispute, representing Walker ranch. The announcer says Kayden’s name and he’s largely applauded by a wide number of girls that screams his name as if he was a rock star. “Ridding the pure blood Sky and representing Walker ranch, from Portland, the cowboy that makes the girls sigh, Kayden Vaugh.” Kayden entered galloping Sky steady and reaching the heavy calf from around 320 yards apart, like an arrow he jumped out of the mare and tied the calf, quickly raising his hands, doing spectacular time of 9.48 seconds.
