Seeing titles like 'Minerals and Gemstones' and 'Animals of the Sahara', I knew I was in the science section. I had to search three more sections: languages, music, and mathematics, before I finally found the section that housed the books on the supernatural. At first, all the books I see are about werewolves. Walking further down the row, the topics change from werewolves to vampires to witches. At the very end of the row, in a small section, nearly invisible unless you are looking for it, stand the books about lycans. I decide to start with trying to find what ingredients may have been used in the sedative Clay gave me.

My heart is furiously beating as I type the word nonhuman. Many articles pop up so I just click on the first one. There are so many definitions. Sirens,witches, vampires , demons and yes, Angels are there too. Apparently the term is used to describe people who are not exactly humans, people with unusual gifts or powers. I keep on reading and even click on the images. The images are a bit scary and definitely not human. The thought that I could be one of those things is more than scary.

Nayssa began to flip through the pages. There were several creatures in that world besides wolves. And the similarity between them was the hatred for the werewolves who took their mother away from them.

Once I reached the library, I started looking for the book having details of all kinds of creatures in the world. And thankfully, my research ended after half an hour. This is a magical book that gets updated automatically along with time, just as Wikipedia in g****e terms. I quickly read all the pages of those creatures about whom I already knew like Nephilim, Demon, Angels, Werewolves, Shapeshifters, Dragons, and Vampires.

I read a few of the spines before coming across one titled ‘Creaturae et Ineffabilia’. “Creatures and Unspeakables,” I muttered. “This one looks promising.”

I had to keep studying—this was the only way I could avoid his gaze and his presence. After a few more pages, my eyes drifted to the large bookshelf along the living room wall. It was filled with thick volumes, most in Latin or old English. Slowly, I stood and approached it. My fingers brushed over a spine, trying to read the titles. Anatomi Licanthropica, Genealogy of Packs, Mutatio Lupus. I pulled one out, nearly choking when I saw its contents—pages full of strange illustrations: skeletal figures half-transformed into wolves, notes on dual circulatory systems, and countless terms unfamiliar to me.

But would they help me protect Orion and seek revenge? I roamed around the library, picking out books from several different sections. A hefty stack was piled in one arm by the time I’d finished—for now—and I narrowed my selection down to three. No pleasure reading this time, I was on a mission. One was a text on abnormal supernatural biology. Another covered the mythology of chimeras, strange creatures featuring numerous animal and human parts. The last was a history of dark witches. After stashing the remaining books on a side table, I climbed back up to the third floor and eased into the hall. The corridor was empty and quiet except for… Was that music?
