Jay was gone. Jess tried to turn to run but was unable to pull her feet from the tar. She tried to dig out of it. The more she clawed at the substance the more took its place. Jess suddenly became aware of the thing standing over her. She could feel it breathing on her and she saw its giant claw like feet. Jess was to scared to look up but allowed her eyes to creep up inch by inch. She found herself staring into it's eyes. She let out a ear-piercing scream. “Gotcha pretty girl.” It snarled before opening its mouth and swallowing her whole.

Each volume of Strange short stories will have 3 medium-sized stories and about 10 short stories. To make it easier to understand and more transparent, this chapter will be like a summary for this and the following volumes. In this world full of magic, demonic beasts and restrictions, they live on the run, abandoned by their parents. As the stories got scarier, I noticed a few of the younger pack members huddling closer to their parents, seeking comfort and reassurance. Soon, it was my turn to share a story. Feeling the weight of the moment, I cleared my throat and began my tale. "In a small village, there was a haunted mansion. It was said that the spirit of a vengeful witch roamed the halls, seeking revenge on anyone who dared to enter her domain..." I let my imagination run wild, conjuring spine-chilling scenes and mysterious characters. The pack leaned in closer, their eyes wide with fascination, hanging onto every word I spoke. The suspenseful atmosphere made my heart race with excitement.

Ken asks while trying to make the conversation a little lighter. "I swear, Ken. Big huge hairy creatures that shift between men....and ugly wolf-men hybrids...They also talked about vampires at the place they held me for four days. We don't live in the world we think we do...I swear on mom. The girl I escaped with...they shot her in the back of the head. To escape from the basement I made the furnace explode...I killed people to get away from them, Kenny. I became a monster to escape monsters. I would never make that up," I declare, and Ken's eyes widen as he digests my words.

I steeled myself and opened the door. The hallway was awash in red. Smears and spatters of bright and dark blood covered the walls, the floor, and my door. My head reeled. What the hell happened? Why was there so much blood outside my door? Hadn't the guy in 603 seen it through his peephole? I couldn't help looking toward apartment 603. To my surprise, the door stood half-open, and it was dead quiet inside. I picked my way past the bloodstains and made my way to apartment 603.

You shiver when you always think of, A werewolf in the night, They eat human flesh so yuck and sticky, But it’s just in your mind You might think there’s a creepy castle, Lost somewhere in time, You might think it has ghosts all around, But it’s just in your mind. Do you believe in vampires? , Those creatures with long white fangs, You might think they drink human blood, But it’s just in your mind. You might believe in witches, They laugh with a scary look, You might think they have black cats, Or a bat to cook for food. You can imagine all sorts of creepy things, That makes you shudder with fright, But please don’t yell mommy when you see them,
