Red Riding Hood tried to run, but the blue wolf was too fast, and soon he was upon her. The wolf grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into his lair, where she saw the remains of his previous victims strewn about. She realized too late that the sweet, caregiver figure she knew was actually the wolf in disguise, and she was trapped in his clutches. Red Riding Hood tried to fight back, but the wolf was too strong. He revealed his sharp teeth and his intentions to devour her. She screamed for help, but there was no one around to hear her. In the end, she was devoured by the wolf.

Gray and Bodolf looked hard at me before gray asked, “You want to go on a hunt? At night?” I glared at him, “I know my way around the woods.” “Not these woods, little red. There are stories about what happens to little girls in red around these woods.” He eyed my hair, and then my poncho. I snorted, stabbing another bit of meat with my fork and waving it in his direction, “Yes, the wolf who messed with Red died.” I said the last with a bit of a barb, and plopped the juicy chunk of meat into my mouth, locking eyes with Gray, never blinking as I chewed. This wolf may think I am a helpless girl, but he will have to learn the hard way how wrong he is.

It didn't take long to pack or to leave the city, not like it was a big city for that matter, but way more sizable than where I came from. Rolling green fields passed by our car and with it came the stench of cow manure. If you stayed in it long enough, you didn't notice the smell, but after being gone so long it was so overpowering I wanted to gag. As I stared, I watched the shadows. That is where I always saw him with his glowing red ember. I wondered what it was. It looked like just a glowing ball of light. Maybe it was an enchanted firefly. Since I was dealing with the unknown here, maybe it was a fairy.

“Don’t bother. Milka already convinced me to be Olaf for Halloween.” My lips formed a grin, and I turned my face toward him. “For real?” He shrugged. “She agreed to let me be zombie Olaf.” “Unbelievable.” I laughed as Conor called for Milka. She whined in protest until he mentioned the c-word—“candy.” I had quickly come to realize that Milka’s absolute favorite thing in the world was Sour Patch Kids, and that Conor always seemed to have a stash of them somewhere around his person. He used them for anything, including bribery.

I backed away shakily, knowing there was no way I could outrun it. Knowing I would die faster if I turned my back on it. I stumbled, falling on the ground but I didn’t stop trying to back away. The wolf growled, stalking steadily towards me. I looked down all of a sudden at the dress I was wearing. It was blindingly white, almost like a wedding dress. One minute it was plain, the next, it darkened considerably scarlet, as if soaked in blood.

"Did you see someone out there?" I look up at him and shake my head. "No, I was just lost in thought." He gave a look, as if he knew what I was thinking about. "Come on, let's get comfortable and watch the movie." He suggests, motioning me to the bed. We quickly change into out comfortable pajamas, and we get into bed. I cuddle up to him as he wraps his arms around me. We lay there in comfort silence watching a thriller/horror movie of Red Riding Hood. A bit cliché and predictable, but it wasn't too bad of a movie. Even Jackson found it good to watch, since he's a werewolf himself.

“Okay. Story about a coat.” Lyra sat on the edge of the bed and reached for one of the books on the shelf. Her hand hovered over a battered copy of *Little Red Riding Hood*—then veered away. There are no big bad wolves tonight. She picked a different one instead. Something about a small dragon who refused to learn how to roar properly and became a doctor instead. As she read, Luna’s eyelids drooped. Her fingers loosened on the stuffed wolf. Her breathing slowed, evened out.

“Never say never, Little Red. You'll be the one begging for me to fuck you when you're ready. For now, throw all the fucking tantrums in the world. It won't change my mind about you being mine. For every fucking second in the past eight years and in the future,’ She stared at me, speechless. Her pink, soft lips were slightly parted, and her eyes sunk into mine as though my soul was the target. The air around us stiffened, and an alluring silence descended on the room. My wolf, on the other hand, was yelling at me to mark her. A sudden knock interrupted us, sending me out of my dangerous thoughts. “What!” I snapped. Rue walked in along with the little boy. “What is this, Rue?”
