Now this weirdo would think I found her very expensive and not so funny prank, amusing. Melanie clapped her hands once, "See?! I think we both have the sense of humor. “How profoundly clever. If this is your master strategy, you have truly lost your mind.” “You are correct. Are we important or not?’”, He continues joking, eyes lighting up when he hears me chuckle a second time. “Yeah, literally”, I agree, having to lower my eyes. I feel far too ashamed. I not only chuckled at one of his jokes, but at two of them. And I did so because I actually found them funny.

Can you please, for once, use your brain and kick some sense in the gear?” He whisper-hisses, so red in the face, he reminds me of a tomato. “You could join a casting for vegetable commercials looking like this,” I remark and laugh at the brilliant joke my brain just reacted. Shit, am I not the funniest guy out there? Look at me - sense of humor, looks, body and an impressive spoon collection, I have it all, damn it. No wonder my little vixen couldn’t deny me.

“I do not fall.” There was a pause. “No,” he said calmly. “You just look very funny while slipping.” The line went dead. I stood there for a long time. Then I began laughing again. Because if I did not laugh, I might start screaming. The televisions behind me kept talking. The city kept moving and for the first time in my life, I understood what it felt like to be the joke. But jokes can turn dark very quickly and I am very good at dark.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Even if I’m a walking disaster, at least I’m never boring. And who knows? Maybe all these little moments will add up to something pretty awesome in the end.” Gift grinned mischievously. “Absolutely! And hey, if all else fails, we can always write a book about our epic college misadventures and become famous for it. ‘The Chronicles of Clumsy College: Adventures in Chaos and Caffeine’ sounds like a bestseller, don’t you think?” We all burst into laughter again, the idea growing funnier by the second. My brain took so much time to digest what he said to me. It was shocking, yes, and what got me irritated is how he laughed after telling me those breathtaking dialogues. He laughed as if he didn't mean anything he said, or maybe because he finds what he told me preposterous. Which, even though I don't want to admit it, is true. Hays! Overthinker.
