Drayce’s face turned red as Anders explained in their mind link. “Sorry.” He murmured. - They finished their meal chatting about the recon mission and how they were going to take care of the humans they would rescue. Not everyone was participating in the conversation. Dennis was feeling a little nervous about the blood donation. Without thinking, Klaus stretched his hand towards the man, and strangled him without touching him. The demon dropped dead before the rest of the workers. Klaus hissed, and returned to his car, rage boiling in the pit of his stomach.

The man fell to the ground, screaming in pain while Ares just rolled his eyes and threw the eyeball on the ground and stomped on it because squatting in front of the man. He grabbed the man by the hair and lifted his head up so they were eye leveled. “I told you I don’t do second chances but you are someone I’ve known for so long so I don’t want to kill you off just like that but if you don’t find a way to get me rid of this demon the next time we meet, I won’t just be taking away your other eye but also your life. Got that?” He pushed the man to the ground as he stood up then turned to Cornelius with a groan.

I tried to breathe but the bastard had its entire weight on my body, crushing my ribs and digging its claws into my arm. Snarling, I placed the palm of my hand on the ground. The runes on my arm burned red as the earth began to rumble. I turned to the demon and smiled as chains erupted from the ground. They shot through the monster's flesh, severing through its body fat and slicing off one of its breasts. I closed my eyes as a rain of flesh and vile blood rained down on me. I was going to need another fucking bath. I rolled onto my feet, my breath ragged as I scanned for the last monster. “Thrakos," I called as more chains curled out of my runes. "What the fuck are these–"

I heard the footsteps loud and clear this time around, and without pausing, I lunged for the person behind me. My lips curled up in satisfaction when it dug into flesh, and then it was… nothing. I slashed again for good measure, but all I heard was the whooshing of the blade through the air. When the lights came back on, a pile of ash was on the floor. I'd killed a demon. I couldn't help but laugh at my small victory, glad that my enhanced senses had returned - at least my hearing had. I heard footsteps coming from outside my room. These were loud and angrier, and I quickly concluded that it couldn't be another demon.

"Now, I summon the female Seraphina, to give her blood to join the regal bond of the blood." The king stepped back with a lingering gaze on my face and I walked to the goddess' statue. "Hold your palm above the chalice and cut it with the dagger to mix your blood with the holy liquid." The priest instructed and I followed. The dagger was cold to the touch but when it pierced my skin, the blade was as warm as the summer sun.

The sword clashed with its opponent's blade in a dance of survival, each strike mirroring the ferocious struggle for power. As the Demon's sword drew down on me, a force beyond my comprehension rushed through the blade, a guardian spirit deflecting the fatal blow. The impression was both unsettling and invigorating as if there was an unseen ally amid mayhem. The Demon's strike faltered, his widening eyes showing the shock at the sword's resistance. Just as death seemed certain, a gunshot rang out, a triumphant chorus of life among the chaos. The Demon crumbled to the ground, his malevolence obliterated by Xavier's shot. Xavier's presence was reassuring, his wink and words erasing any remaini
