At their head rode Caspian, snow streaked across the edges of his black cloak, and beside him was Vega.
The man's expression was carved from exhaustion, his tunic dirty and bloody from the torture he'd endured, and his face smeared with soot and dried blood. His eyes were sharp, though, steady in a way only men who had seen the worst and survived could manage.
“Where is Alpha Orion?" Vega asked as soon as he stopped a few feet in front of Aleksandr, and both he and Caspian shared a look.
“Maybe it's best you see for yourself," Caspian responded through clenched teeth before dismounting from his horse and handing the reins over to a warrior and walking ahead with Aleksandr in tow.
