A message bubble lit up under his name, cheerful and oblivious. Just another one of his dry, stupid jokes—something about his dinner being so terrible he was convinced the restaurant was trying to assassinate him with undercooked chicken. He'd probably attached one of those ridiculous GIFs he was always finding, something animated and silly that was meant to make me laugh.

The room fell silent, all eyes turning towards him. “Well, folks,” Jerry began with a mischievous glint in his eye, “it looks like we’ve officially hit rock bottom. But hey, that means there’s no way to go but up, right? Unless, of course, someone hands us a shovel!” He mimicked the action of digging with an imaginary shovel, complete with sound effects. There was a moment of stunned silence. Damien raised an eyebrow, half-expecting an explosion of frustration. But then, one by one, the tension in the room broke as smiles appeared on the faces around the table. A few chuckles escaped, and soon the entire room was laughing.

“I literally just picked up my phone.” “Exactly.” Jordy let out a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “You’re annoying.” “And you like it.” Jordy didn’t argue that. They slipped into conversation easily, like they always did. Matt talked about random things, things that didn’t really matter but somehow felt important just because it was him saying them. At some point, Matt made a joke that caught Jordy off guard. Jordy laughed, a real one this time, dropping his head slightly. “You’re actually so stupid.”

I ask, hoping his explanation satisfies my confusion. "Oh, we apologize about that. Your coffee wasn't toilet water, that was a joke and I know we may have gone overboard with the two days in a roll lockout but our chief prankster couldn't come up with something else. I know it sounds weird but like I said, it's a thing we do here," he explained and I'm baffled. Are these people mentally stable? Are they okay in their heads? How does any of this even make any sense to them?

I can't– I just can't with this friend of mine. "Your jokes are all lame. Even an infant won't find it funny." I said and they all laughed at what I have said. Well, it is the truth. "Who would laugh at a joke saying 'are you a clown? 'Cause you're just a clown'?" I asked. " It looks like someone is stunned because of the smile for his love of his life." Mr. Kirke was teasing Mr. Disero. I was curious to know who it was but ended up not to ask since it was none of my business.

His face was literally shaped like that of a person cursed always to be unhappy. I shrugged, displaying my open palms. "Just twice a week. I'm pretty reasonable on Sundays." Damian looked baffled, and then an expression of utter disgust crossed his face as his brows drew together, displaying lines on his forehead. "That's…was a joke, you were supposed to find that funny," My voice trailed. "I guess not. Keep your eyes on the road, then. You might find something that spikes your humor there." "I see no reason to. It's not like you're one of those scared to die."

I love it when Jorge smiles at me. We were laughing about my latest pay in Cards Against Humanity. The man who created the joke was Nate Brighton. “No wonder I’ve smelled something disgusting, there is trash here apparently,” Nate sneered, followed by the laughter of his two friends. “Hey, did you forget to tell your clerk to clean,” his blonde friend sneered . “Hmm, they cleaned up earlier, but the trash show up again,” Nate explained. “Looks like your luxury car collection is very shiny and makes a hobo seem enchanted,” his long-haired friend said. “Nate, I think you need to be generous with him. Just give a little of your money to that beggar!” Nate’s friend exclaimed and mocking Nicko.

They'll probably throw me in jail after that, and let's not even start with what his precious fans would do to my career. "Funny. Thank God Jared doesn't know about that." I answer, absentmindedly. Nate chuckles again. "Thank God no one knows about that." He corrects, unbeknownst to him.
