I spent time explaining to Mateo and Adrian why I wanted to keep my beautiful wolf. I couldn’t particularly explain why I was drawn to keep her, but I did feel an instant bond with the creature. I remember that when I was a young boy, I had a dog that looked similar. Her name was Scruffy. That dog and I went everywhere and did everything together. It broke my heart when she crossed the rainbow bridge.

I only close my eyes when I’m too exhausted to keep them open. On day four at my brother’s house, I take my throwaway cell into the backyard and sit on the steps while Daisy does his business. He’s one of the oddest looking dogs imaginable with shepherd markings and the kinky curly hair of a standard poodle. The day after we arrived, Daisy and I had a serious problem when he tried humping my leg. Linc, the ass, snickered. Shelby stopped me from pummeling my brother by saying Daisy really liked the Street brothers and unless we proved who the boss is, Daisy’s “like” might result in puppies. Shelby’s a strange one. Her dog more so.

“We all ok, Woofy? Because if you aren't, your momma is gonna kill me.” “Since when do you and Pope have a dog?” So much had changed in my brother’s social lives. Babies, dogs and wedding plans. Life had gone on without me when I had been in hiding. And I was starting to hate it. “It’s not ours. I was just taking him for a walk. He’s the biggest fluff ball ever right? Looks mean but is a total softy.”

I said as he nodded and went away in the direction of their home. I approach my brother and that new friend. Vihaan and I both had fun with him but mostly Vihaan. We took this little pup with us as I had to surprise someone. I took him to my room. He is a good boy and didn't destroy anything in my room while I was taking a bath. I clicked a selfie with him and then sent it to his dear sister. "You know? Your sister is in search of a beautiful bride for you." I said while he did nothing but kept looking at me then got on me to lick my jaw, whole face. I told him funny things about his sister and he is enjoying it. Whenever I would narrate something a lot weird act of her he would bark at me.

She grinned. The next evening, I finished work at around seven. I do a part-time job at a pet daycare in our town called Sam's Pet Care. It's great money, and when you are surrounded by fifteen adorable little animals, work does not really feel like work. The pet care is really not that far from our house, so I usually walk back home. Another reason for that, which I usually do not admit to, is that on the way home, I pass the basketball court, where sometimes my brother and his teammates are practicing. Which means I get a glimpse of Brian. And gosh, does he look so sexy with his muscly build and the tattoos that ran down from his biceps to his wrist.

"I... I have them. If you don't believe her, I can—" "No!" Tracey screamed, lunging to stop him, but it was too late. The sharp click of the car unlocking sealed her fate. I threw open the trunk. The stench hit me first. Then I saw it—a small, lifeless dog, its body limp and decaying. Puffy. Peter stumbled back, his face white as a sheet. "Tracey... Puffy... why is... why is Puffy here?" The live stream exploded. Comments poured in, furious and relentless:

Knowing he wouldn't be able to say anything, I was left with no option than to speak. 'You won't believe it,' I said rubbing my hand on my face. I said seemingly short of words that would appropriately explain the whole situation. 'Can you believe that somebody told that stupid blog that Dominus and I impregnated female wolves when we were in the other pack and we have kept it so well from our parents?' I said fuming with anger.

Now, the sun is up, and it’s my wedding day. I hurry downstairs to make myself a cappuccino and Dallas a black coffee. Chinook rings the sleigh bells hanging on the sliding door, so I let him out back to do his doggy business. I marvel at his transformation from a nearly bald, shaved dog into a gorgeous golden retriever, his hair growing longer each day. It’s hard to remember why I cursed at my oldest brother, Levi, for springing an ugly mutt on us when I see this beautiful one now. Tyler pads groggily to the breakfast table, sitting in his chair.

Tyler must have put it to make me scream so that he can visit me in the middle of the night—or dawn. He’s one hell of a cunning wolf, there’s no doubt about that. Making a stuff toy as his excuse just to see me is another level of Tyler’s genius-ness. I pinch the nose of Taylor, the wolf stuff toy. Yes, that’s how fast I can think of a name. “It’s fragrant, not bad,” I whispered. It’s some sort of a husky dog like the one that my youngest brother received on his birthday last year. Well, uhm, late youngest brother to be exact.
