** Paige’s POV ** By late afternoon, the tension of the meeting and knowing we have a traitor fades into a slight niggling at the back of my mind. We take Jaxon down to the pond for a while. The water ripples softly with the slightest breeze. Jax crouches at the edge, poking at the mud with a stick while he tells me in great detail how he’s going to build a frog hotel. “Look! There’s frogspawn!” he cries, pointing. “They look like little jelly bubbles! There are loads of them!”

But Nora didn’t want it to be cut and everyone in the house knew that our sanity depended on not upsetting her. Curious, I looked at the tree again, in search of what the frog was trying to get at. At the top of the tree was a visible wing. I’m horrible at description, so I couldn’t even begin to describe it, but it was the prettiest thing I ever saw. It was frail and curved and had so many bright colors that I was instantly enthralled. The frog flicked its tongue out again, reminding me of its presence. I had to save the butterfly.

Damaria “Big sister! Look!” Lionne shouted as she ran towards me while holding something in her hands. I smiled as I set the book that I was reading down on my lap. When she got to me, she opened her hands showing a blue frog that she caught on the river. “Look at it, big sister! Isn’t it cute?!” she asked while shrieking with happiness with the frog that she caught. “It is cute. But Leona, the frog’s family will get sad because you took him from them” I said. She looked at the frog then she looked back at me and she smiled, the sweetest smile you can ever see.

At the last second, Mikey turned, but Man, who had been going faster plunged headfirst into the lake. After only a second, Man popped up out of the water and climbed out onto the grass, soaked but not harmed. Ray continued to track the child but lost sight of Mikey when he heard Man let out a terrified shout. “Oh my God danger, someone save me!” Ray veered back around only to find Man standing two feet away from a frog with two more coming up on his other side. “Really,” Ray muttered remembering the story Ash had told him. “Seriously?” Feeling slightly bad for Man, who did look truly terrified by the frogs, Ray made his way over.

Chris pointed at the corner. McKenzie turned to see another metal cage by the corner with a bunch of frogs inside! The frogs had bumps all over them, seemingly disgusting and terrifying. McKenzie grimaced. “The pythons eat these?” “Yes, I’ll show you!” Chris walked over and grabbed a frog. He then returned to the python cage and put it next to one of the pythons, and it instantly opened its bloody jaw and ate the frog. Gwak! Gwak! Gwak!

She walks around looking at all the lovely things. Stephen stands by her, looking down. "What would you like, Princess? You choose. It's going to be your special room." She points. "That one's nice. The one with the dragonflies and the frogs." He looks askance. "What, the green paper? I don't think that's very nice. With all those... What are they? Leaves?" Shelley stamps and giggles. "They're lily pads, Stevie. For the frogs to sit on. Look, the frogs are smiling...." She stretches a finger to where a six-inch frog looks up at a dragonfly, smiling almost as widely as she does.

Breathing in the fresh air, I smiled as birds fluttered past me, and I closed my eyes, taking in the serene surroundings. To avoid any prying eyes, I took a different path to the cave. Though my father seemed indifferent to my sudden happiness, I knew he was observant and would eventually uncover my secret. I needed to act quickly and bury the vampire before he discovered it. Passing by the river, I noticed a small frog jumping off a boulder into the stream just a few meters ahead. I paused to watch its graceful movements before continuing on my way, a faint smile on my lips.

The scorpion was on his way back from a relative’s burial when he got to a river and realized that the log of wood he’d used in crossing previously, had been washed away by the rushing tide of the river. He stood in place, hopeless for several hours with no way to cross, before a frog finally passed by. Immediately, he started begging the frog to carry him across, but the frog refused with all manner of excuses. First, he said he wasn’t a strong swimmer and wouldn’t be able to carry the scorpion across. When the scorpion continued begging, the frog said he was in a hurry and the extra weight would slow him down. But the scorpion begged harder. He cried while promising all

Bertrand looked like a man being mugged by a five-year-old. "No rabbits," I said from the doorway. Camilla turned. "Mommy. He was going to say yes." "He was absolutely not going to say, yes." Bertrand mouthed thank you at me, over her head. Marie crouched down to Camilla's level, her coat pooling around her on the floor. "What about a garden frog? They just show up on their own. You don't have to do anything." Camilla considered this with the gravity of a small senator. "A frog would be okay," she said finally.

"Unless you're just here for the show." Appearing not as Jinx's brother but as someone from Tricksy's long ago past, Frog fell out of the scepter and landed on all fours. He was missing his tail and one of his ears. "Could have been a bit more focused." He growled as he perched in a nearby chair. "Where's your hospitality? No little snacks for me or anything?"
