she whispered, her voice filled with confidence. The answer echoed through the forest, followed by a resounding silence. The stones beneath Lucia's paws shifted, forming a narrow path leading deeper into the darkness. She followed the trail, her senses heightened, ready for the next challenge. As she ventured further, the forest seemed to come alive, whispering secrets and testing her resolve. A second riddle floated through the air, taunting her intellect. "I can be cracked, made, told, and played. What am I?" Lucia's mind raced once again, dissecting the riddle with precision. "A joke," she exclaimed, her voice resonating with certainty.

A guy in a tie-dye poncho stood up and announced, “Okay, I’m just gonna freestyle a riddle, like off the dome.” Everyone booed in delight. “Do it!” He cleared his throat dramatically. “I’m tall when I’m young, and short when I’m old. What am I?” Katherine whispered to Kingsley, “Is it a candle?” He raised his brows. “You’re on fire.” She smiled slightly. “Literally.” Back at the circle, the group had already guessed it. Then came another: “What can fill a room but take up no space?” Several people called out guesses. Someone finally got it—“Light.”

If retail therapy wasn’t on the table, I’d take verbal annihilation any day. You see, I’ve mastered the art of throwing bullies off their game. Random jokes, historical references, lines from Shakespeare or sitcoms – whatever makes them pause long enough to question if they’re being insulted. Paisley asks, furrowing her brow. “That’s just an expression that means, where he went wrong or the mistake that took him down the wrong path.” I explain. “And in Daddy’s case that’s thinking that we’re better off without him.” “Mommy, that’s not an error, I think the word you’re looking for is just stupid.” Parker points out, quite astutely. “I love Daddy, but he’s being a big dumb-dumb.” I purse my lips to hold back my laughter. My pups know better than to call other people stupid, and in fairness, I’ve never heard them lob the word at other children. Still, I can’t argue with Parker’s assessment. Ethan is definitely being a dumb-dumb.

They had presented the riddle, but what was the answer? I swallowed endlessly. How was I to find the answer? “What could someone use without seeing?” I asked myself, feeling the walls move closer. “This is so slow.” Aurora whined. “What would such a person make but not want? A disease?” ‘Idiot, you can't buy nor use a disease.’ “Okay, what would no one want? Of course, sicknesses, injuries, liabilities, accidents, death.” I began to list the numerous things, and then I realized in seconds, the walls would begin to crush me.

Zoe answered, to Zara's uttermost shock. “You don't know that?” She questioned, her eyes widening in alarm. She could or believe anyone would not know a riddle as simple as that. “Yeah,” Zoe answered, totally not into what she was saying. “Okay. What about this one? Why did the cracker go see the doctor?” Zara questioned again. “I do not know either,” Zoe responded monotonously, “And again, this joke and riddle sounds very boring,” she lamented. “This was your favorite part though,” Zara mumbled, pouting her face pitifully and sadly.

I walked to the poster and read the bold typed words. “If two’s company and three’s a crowd, what are four and five?” “Susan has four daughters, and each of her daughters had a brother. How many children does Susan have?” “How much dirt is in a hole that’s two feet by three feet?” “What goes up but never comes down?” “What is the end of everything?”

I read the next riddle, and now I want to solve it. It is "moon!" I answered. The tunnel opened when I answered. To keep intruders out, riddles could have been implemented. Unfortunately, this caused us no trouble in entering the cave and obtaining the Elixir Bottle, even though the Riddle Keepers might have wanted to make it difficult. I've read the riddle and this is what it says: "Two friends with a sharp blade in their stomach have been biting each other for a long time, but they do not hurt each other."

Dumb right? I bumped into someone when I took the next turn sending their drink flying out of their hand, and all over my shirt. I reached for her hand to hold her steady, she almost slipped. “Oh, my God, you have no idea how sorry I-” The woman did not even let me land. “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? CAN’T YOU WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING? ARE YOU STUPID, OR DUMB, OR JUST PLAIN BLIND?”

Cassandra, gathering her strength, yelled over the powerful melody, "We've faced your trial, Raven! Release him!" The raven lowered its head, locking eyes with her. "Your bravery and intellect have been tested. But the trial isn't over. To free your friend, answer this riddle: 'I am taken from a mine and shut up in a wooden case, from which I am never released, and yet I am used by almost every person. What am I?'" Cassandra thought for a moment, then whispered, "A pencil lead." The raven let out a triumphant caw, and the enchantment broke. Darius dazed, returned to their side.
