~Dawn The riddle made no sense as I read it in my mind. Untouchable as unseen, a ghost of something you'll never be. See him once, never twice, and witness something as cold as ice. Trust someone just as bad, you don't want to make him mad. "Is this a warning?" I question. I couldn't see any other explanation for this strange riddle which I had no answer to. Kaden stays silent for awhile longer before he spoke again, letting me process what was on the note. "I want your answer by midnight. Someone will come for it. If you fail to answer the riddle, they will die. If you answer it correctly, they live."

I can't stop thinking about it- why would two rogues need a stupid cloak from me when they can basically buy or steal it anywhere? After a long pause, I part my lips to reply, but Dumber quickly jumps in and announces, "I'll get it." Oh, so they got it, and Dumb never asked me. Good thing the friend decided to speak up, or I look like a complete idiot. I sure hope stupidity isn't contagious because if it is, I'm catching on to it.

“Almost let me question my judgement for following you, but it’s you, so…” Jai frowned. “That’s almost twice. What does that even mean?” “Sometimes when you have a stupid friend who does stupid things, you wonder why would that person do stupid things. Especially since that certain friend knows it’s stupid. But since you remember that your friend is stupid, so him doing stupid things is actually no wonder. And then you realize that you almost question something that’s plainly obvious, which is also stupid—if you actually wonder about it, which makes you also stupid.”

"You are not dumb, are you?" This question made me feel humiliated, but against them, I couldn't even gather the courage to breathe loudly.

Poor guy -not nutcracker, but the person who owns the nuts that just got cracked. "Is he alright?" I -dumbly- asked Langston. "WHAT!?" He shouts through the loud noise of cheers from the crowd around us. "IS HE ALRIGHT!?" I repeated, shouting this time. "WHICH ONE!?" Which one? The one who's probably dead of course! I replied, "THE ONE WHO'S KNOCKED OUT!!" He looked at me like I'm crazy, "IS THAT A RHETORICAL QUESTION? BECAUSE IF IT ISN'T, THEN YOU'RE STUPID! OF COURSE, HE'S NOT ALRIGHT!"

They would require a deeper understanding, a connection to the mysteries of the universe. The Goddess gestured to a figure cloaked in shadows, who stepped forward and spoke in a low, melodious voice. "Here is your first riddle, Liam: What is it that is blind, yet sees? What is it that is silent, yet speaks?" I closed my eyes, focusing my thoughts. And then, like a flash of lightning, the answer came to me. "The answer is the heart," I said confidently. "It is blind to the physical world, yet sees the truth of our emotions. It is silent, yet speaks volumes through our intuition."

Paisley asks, furrowing her brow. “That’s just an expression that means, where he went wrong or the mistake that took him down the wrong path.” I explain. “And in Daddy’s case that’s thinking that we’re better off without him.” “Mommy, that’s not an error, I think the word you’re looking for is just stupid.” Parker points out, quite astutely. “I love Daddy, but he’s being a big dumb-dumb.” I purse my lips to hold back my laughter. My pups know better than to call other people stupid, and in fairness, I’ve never heard them lob the word at other children. Still, I can’t argue with Parker’s assessment. Ethan is definitely being a dumb-dumb.

They had presented the riddle, but what was the answer? I swallowed endlessly. How was I to find the answer? “What could someone use without seeing?” I asked myself, feeling the walls move closer. “This is so slow.” Aurora whined. “What would such a person make but not want? A disease?” ‘Idiot, you can't buy nor use a disease.’ “Okay, what would no one want? Of course, sicknesses, injuries, liabilities, accidents, death.” I began to list the numerous things, and then I realized in seconds, the walls would begin to crush me.

Zoe answered, to Zara's uttermost shock. “You don't know that?” She questioned, her eyes widening in alarm. She could or believe anyone would not know a riddle as simple as that. “Yeah,” Zoe answered, totally not into what she was saying. “Okay. What about this one? Why did the cracker go see the doctor?” Zara questioned again. “I do not know either,” Zoe responded monotonously, “And again, this joke and riddle sounds very boring,” she lamented. “This was your favorite part though,” Zara mumbled, pouting her face pitifully and sadly.

Nicola entered the maze alone, the towering hedges cutting her off from the outside world. She moved cautiously, her senses on high alert. The maze wasn’t just about finding the exit; it was filled with traps and challenges meant to test her problem-solving skills. At one point, she encountered a deep pit blocking her path. A quick survey revealed a narrow ledge along the edge, and she carefully inched her way across, her heart pounding with each step. Further in, she found a riddle carved into a stone tablet: I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with the wind. What am I?
